Director or VP of Gaming
We’re looking for an accomplished industry leader who wants to champion our gaming initiatives as we expand our story universes into the world of gaming. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, you’ll manage our external development partners and pipeline and bring these games to market on browser and mobile as well as our in-house voxel team that releases content onto the Minecraft store. As you help bring our worlds like Midnight Online to life, you’ll connect what we do in gaming to our activities in comics, animation, and more.
Develop a strategy for how gaming grows at 555 Comic and connects to the big picture
Manage the day-to-day relationship with our external development partners already in place and cultivate those relationships
Lead and mentor the voxel team, working with the team lead on planning, deliverables, and monetization
Work cross-functionally with the Product team and support their efforts on the user journey across our ecosystem; achieve hard goals in terms of number of users in our ecosystem
Establish the infrastructure and team to make regular releases and updates possible
Collaborate with our writers and community teams to inspire fans to get into games
Work cross-functionally with other teams in the company to achieve business needs of all of our story worlds as they expand into gaming
Game publishing experience and a track record of excellence releasing games on different platforms, including mobile and browser
Game-related producing, program management, and/or project management experience, including working with cross-functional partners such as marketing, legal, etc.
People management skills, including both for direct reports and dotted lines, leading dispersed teams across products and time zones
Ability to craft, articulate, and get others on board with your gaming strategy, from the creative leads to executives to partners and more
In-game marketplace experience (e.g. selling content in third-party games)
Track record as an executive producer, senior producer, or similar with at least three shipped major titles or 10+ smaller-sized games
Experience releasing sell-through games on console
Business development skills in closing both big and small gaming-related deals with a track record to back it up
Game portfolio user acquisition and growth hacking experience
Spanish and/or Japanese language skills a plus
This position is worldwide remote. “Director or VP” means that based on the experience level of the candidate, we may scope this as a director or vice president.
