Position Description

We are looking for an experienced Marketing Manager with a strong background in product marketing for technology companies to join our team and lead the design and execution of our go-to-market strategy for the 8base Platform and Services offering. In this role, you will be responsible for building and telling the story to both internal and external audiences in a way that will drive awareness and create significant demand for our products and services. You will report directly to the CEO, as well as have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with many areas of the company.

The Marketing Manager role possesses a unique blend of business and technical skills, a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. The right candidate will be passionate about spending time in the market to understand its problems and find innovative solutions for the broader markets that 8base intends to capture.

The job requires a “roll-up your sleeves” work ethic given the size of our team. We expect this leader to “be product marketing” for the time being while also being able to manage other parts of the overall marketing function done by either staff or agencies, especially as they relate to digital marketing.

The day-to-day

  • Collaborate with product managers to update user personas, create buyer personas and re-define our go-to-market strategy.
  • Create and continually improve messaging.
  • Develop persona-focused sales materials.
  • Evangelize the market strategy to customers, partners, staff, analysts and press.
  • Develop content such as blog posts and white papers and manage others to do the same.
  • Work with product management to analyze the competitive landscape.
  • Create competitor battle cards as part of sales enablement.
  • Drive customer insight programs to uncover requirements and market data that will help guide product management efforts.
  • Enable the sales team to leverage the strategy.
  • Work collaboratively with developer relations staff towards various initiatives.
  • Participate in industry events and conferences.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Strong product marketing experience – strategic planning, gathering and using market data to evaluate new markets, personas, creation of go-to-market strategies, competitors’ strategies, consumer insights marketing.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English and an ability to tailor communication styles to different audiences, e.g. QA engineers, technical developers, less technical marketing managers, and external customer/partner audiences
  • Еxperience in the software development market. Understanding of the testing market, trends, and competitors. Knowledge of Web development is helpful.
  • Ability to write marketing content and/or review contracted marketing content to advance thought leadership, attract prospects, and educate existing customers.
  • Experience in managing, measuring and driving digital marketing.
  • Marketing Platform Skills - Being able to professionally use, or quickly learn, the platforms in the following marketing stack will be critical to your performance.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree (engineering preferred).
  • 3+ years of relevant experience and 5+ years of overall work experience.
  • Commitment to excellence while maintaining a scrappy work ethic.

Austin, TX or Miami, FL preferred but remote work is also acceptable.
