About Acuicy:

Acuicy (Techstars ’24) is an AI‑driven climate fintech startup that generates financial insights with data modelling to help companies reduce carbon emissions. We are a small, passionate team dedicated to leveraging technology and analytics to enable data-driven decarbonization across industries.

About this role:

You’ll contribute to the advancement and optimization of the data analytics behind Acuicy’s carbon fintech SaaS platform. This role requires a blend of data and carbon analytics, and understanding of our customer’s real world decarbonization challenges. You’ll be responsible for managing large datasets, leveraging advanced analytical techniques across multiple industries and geographies, data visualization, and ensuring seamless product execution. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to addressing climate change, a strong foundation in research, financial modelling, data analytics, understanding of AI/LLMs, and the ability to engage with our customers to support their decarbonization goals.

You will work within a high-performance technical team, collaborating closely with our Carbon Analyst, Director of Engineering and Acuicy’s CEO & Founder. This is an ideal role for an avid technologist and great communicator who enjoys complex multi-facetted problems that combine the technological, environmental, and organizational layers to support our customers across different business verticals. Role Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to delivering the product development roadmap for our carbon analytics, ensuring close alignment with our engineering roadmap
  • Provide technical expertise in carbon data science and predictive analytics
  • Accountability for the quality and reliability of data generated by our platform
  • Conduct qualitative/quantitative research work and develop financial models where applicable
  • Engage with B2B and Enterprise customers to understand their business challenges and requirements, and effectively communicate how Acuicy’s solutions can deliver value
  • Work closely with our technical and commercial teams to understand customer needs and consistently monitor and improve our data.
  • Monitor the latest advancements within carbon analytics and emerging technologies, proactively recommending new approaches
  • Support sales and pre-sales activities by assessing our customers’ decarbonization opportunities, and creating proposal presentations
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit by determining the necessary steps to advance projects, and proactively addressing challenges and solve problems as they arise.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should demonstrate expertise in carbon analytics, environmental and financial data analysis and reporting, and product development.

Education

Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability or a related field; MBA is considered an asset.

Experience

2- 5 years working with sustainability data, carbon analytics, and delivering strategies in energy management, decarbonization, and/or electrification.

Core Expertise and Skillsets

  • Expertise in carbon accounting methodologies, working directly with companies
  • Proven expertise and in-depth knowledge of sustainability frameworks and carbon reporting standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, SBTi, CDP, TCFD, PCAF)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies and frameworks that quantify the financial and environmental benefits of carbon reduction interventions in businesses operations (e.g. Marginal Abatement Cost Curves, and financial ROI)
  • Experience in comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities in the decarbonization and carbon analytics space, offering data-driven insights to support product development strategy and product positioning for targeted industries.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, R, Python).
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between carbon reporting strategies, technical requirements and product roadmap.
  • Experience working in ambiguous, fast-paced, and rapidly changing environments, with demonstrated abilities to lead drive results in evolving conditions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical and analytical information to non-technical stakeholders and clients.
