🚀 Your Mission
As a Finance Associate, you will own day-to-day finance operations across India and the US, ensuring timely compliance, accurate financial reporting, vendor management, and internal process control. You'll be a key support to the finance lead and a future potential backup for core finance responsibilities.
🎯 What You Will Do
- Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Manage end-to-end accounting for both India and US entities.
- Record day-to-day journal entries including accruals, prepayments, intercompany adjustments, and reclassifications.
- Ensure timely reconciliation of all bank accounts (India & US).
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers.
- Review general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy before month- end close.
- Maintain and update fixed assets records (servers, laptops, cameras, etc.) with depreciation schedules.
- Payroll & Compliance
- Handle payroll processing (in-house) after reviewing all payroll- related data.
- Ensure compliance with PF, PT, ESIC, TDS, and other statutory requirements.
- Prepare and file TDS & GST returns accurately and on time.
- Support US payroll processing (inhouse) and ensure proper recording in books.
- Stay updated with Indian and US tax regulations — state and federal.
- Payments & Receipts
- Process vendor payments, employee reimbursements, and statutory payments for India and US entities.
- Manage foreign remittance payments ensuring compliance with FEMA guidelines.
- Reporting & Closings
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.
- Prepare management reports — P&L, Balance Sheet, variance analysis, and expense summaries.
- Assist in consolidation of financials across entities (India & US).
- Prepare schedules and reconciliations required for internal and statutory audits.
- Taxation & Compliance
- Ensure timely filings of TDS, GST, and income tax returns for India.
- Coordinate with external consultants for US tax filings (state and federal).
- Maintain compliance calendar to ensure no statutory deadlines are missed.
- Audit & Documentation
- Prepare and maintain audit documentation for internal, statutory, and group audits.
- Assist auditors during audit cycles with required financial data and explanations.
- Process Improvement & Coordination
- Collaborate cross-functionally (HR, Operations, Legal, US finance teams) to resolve finance-related queries.
- Implement process improvements for efficiency in accounting and reporting.
- Participate in automation initiatives — e.g., expense management tools, reconciliation software, etc.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies.
- Tools & Systems
- Hands-on experience with accounting software (Zoho Books / QuickBooks / NetSuite / Tally).
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel and Google Sheets (vlookups, pivots, reconciliations)
- 4+ years experience in Finance / Accounting
- Hands-on experience with TDS, GST returns & statutory compliance
- Experience in payroll compliance (PF) & statutory filings
- Exposure to audits (internal/statutory)
- Experience working in a structured finance team in a mid-size or growth-stage startup
- Startup experience is a must
- Strong documentation habits & communication skills
- Experience managing fixed assets
- CA-Inter qualified/ MBA Finance
