About The Role
This is a function-owner role, not an execution role.
Aftershoot already invests seven figures a year into creators, and creator-led content is one of the biggest drivers of how photographers discover us. What we don't yet have is someone who owns it end to end: who decides where the money goes, which creators earn a renewal, what the content should actually say, and how we prove any of it worked.
That's you. You'll set the strategy, own the budget, build the partner roster, and lead a small team of executives who handle day-to-day outreach and campaign management. Most of our creators are based in the US, so you'll be working across US time zones on a regular basis.
You'll come in with a clear mandate: make the same spend go three times further, or deliver the same results for meaningfully less. Both are good answers.
What You'll Do
- Own Aftershoot's global influencer and creator marketing strategy end to end, with the US as the primary market.
- Own the annual creator budget: allocate it, defend it, sunset what isn't working, and double down on what is.
- Build and maintain the partner roster across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, spanning photography, creative-tools, and tech audiences.
- Move the program from one-off sponsored posts toward recurring partnerships, ambassador structures, and long-term creator relationships.
- Build the measurement layer: attribution, incrementality, cost per trial and per paid conversion by creator, so renewal decisions are made on evidence rather than instinct.
- Negotiate rates, deliverables, exclusivity, and usage rights, including whitelisting so strong creator content can be repurposed into paid media.
- Get content actually shipped: briefing creators, holding them to timelines, and getting the work over the line when it slips.
- Hire, manage, and coach a team of 2–3 Influencer Marketing Executives.
- Work closely with Growth, Content, Product Marketing, and Design so creator content plugs into the wider marketing engine rather than running beside it.
- Plan and run creator activity around peak moments like Black Friday and major product launches.
- Explore adjacent channels where they make sense: affiliate, community, events, and podcast partnerships.
- 5–8 years in influencer, creator, or partnerships marketing, at an agency or in-house, with at least 2 of those years setting strategy rather than only executing campaigns.
- Direct experience managing a meaningful creator budget, and the ability to walk us through how you spent it and what you got back.
- Experience working with US or international creators, and comfort operating across time zones.
- Excellent spoken and written English. Much of this job is video calls and negotiation with US-based creators, so you need to be clear, natural, and persuasive live.
- Real negotiation instincts. Paying a creator is the beginning of the relationship, not the end of it, and getting good work out of a partner takes persistence and charm in equal measure.
- Comfort with numbers: you can look at a campaign and form a point of view on whether it earned its keep.
- Working knowledge of creator tooling and affiliate platforms (GRIN, CreatorIQ, Modash, Upfluence, Aspire, Impact.com, PartnerStack, or similar).
- A bias toward action. We move fast, we test in the market rather than in slide decks, and we'd rather fix a live campaign than perfect a plan.
- A background in photography, creative tools, or prosumer software.
- Experience in a consumer AI or global SaaS company.
- Experience building a creator program from zero.
What You'll Gain
- Full ownership of a function from day one, with a seven-figure budget and no legacy playbook to inherit.
- Direct line to leadership and real influence over how Aftershoot grows.
- A global creator community in a category people are genuinely passionate about.
- The chance to build a team around you as the program scales.
- Phone Screen – If your profile looks like a fit, our People team will reach out for an intro call.
- Team Interview – A deeper conversation on your experience and how you've run creator programs before.
- Case Discussion – We'll share real context on our program a day ahead, then talk through how you'd approach it. No 20-slide deck required.
- Bar-Raiser Interview – Meet our leadership team for a final evaluation.
- Offer! – If it goes well, we'll extend a formal offer and welcome you on board.
