As of today, we are seeking a Senior AI Engineer to help shape the future of AI-driven legal research tools. You will be instrumental in refining and optimizing our AI-powered chatbots and legal reasoning systems, ensuring they deliver accurate, efficient, and high-quality results. This role is not focused on model tuning but rather on improving the overall system, enhancing data quality, and driving innovative AI applications for legal professionals.

Responsibilities and duties

• Develop and refine AI-driven chatbot tools that assist with case law, legislation analysis, and primary legal source discovery.
• Diagnose and resolve system inefficiencies by forming hypotheses, analyzing data, and implementing effective solutions.
• Optimize legal research processes, making them as seamless and accurate as possible.
• Investigate and fix undesired model behaviors by assessing hypotheses, confirming data validity, and enhancing system performance.
• Innovate in AI system design, ensuring large language models (LLMs) operate at full capacity with clean, structured data.
• Improve system reliability by integrating CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring new AI products to market, focusing on speed, accuracy, and usability.
• Evaluate trade-offs in data selection to optimize performance and accuracy for client needs.
• Identify and address technical limitations such as latency and computational constraints to enhance system efficiency.
• Deploy and manage AI solutions using scalable cloud infrastructure and modern software engineering practices.

Experience and skills

• Proficiency in Python (essential for AI model development and system integration).
• Experience with AWS (or equivalent cloud platforms) for deploying and managing AI solutions.
• Strong understanding of LLMs in both research and commercial applications.
• Expertise in system-level AI optimization, ensuring models operate effectively within broader information systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment frameworks for scalable and reliable AI systems.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and repository management.
• Ability to work in a hypothesis-driven AI development process, iteratively improving system performance based on data analysis.
