Senior Full Stack Engineer
Software Engineering

- Gather requirements with stakeholders and turn them into documented, scalable, fault-tolerant and highly available designs.
- Design, build and maintain scalable backend services and REST APIs in Node.js, using a microservices approach, that handle millions of requests reliably.
- Build fast, responsive, SEO-friendly front-end applications and dashboards in React.
- Model and optimise data across MongoDB and relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), including complex queries and aggregation pipelines over large datasets.
- Use Redis for caching, rate limiting, queues and other performance-critical patterns.
- Architect, deploy and monitor services on AWS with a focus on performance, availability and cost.
- Tune performance across the stack, including query optimisation, indexing, caching, concurrency, load handling and deployment strategy.
- Break complex features into atomic tasks with detailed designs and effort estimates.
- Own multiple services maintained by the team, from design through release and production support.
- Lead design discussions, review code and mentor engineers to raise the bar across the team.
- Work closely with product, data teams to ship reliable data products.
- 6+ years of professional software development, with significant full stack experience.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms and system design.
- Strong JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5 and CSS3 skills. TypeScript is a plus.
- Deep hands-on experience with Node.js (Express, NestJS or similar) for building production REST APIs and microservices.
- Strong experience with React, modern front-end tooling and state management, and with responsive, SEO-optimised front ends.
- Solid experience with MongoDB, including schema design, indexing and the aggregation framework.
- Solid experience with at least one relational database such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Practical experience with Redis.
- Working knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, ECS/EKS and CloudWatch.
- A proven track record of building big data applications that handle millions of API calls and large datasets, and of debugging them under real production load.
- Experience driving the full SDLC in an agile team, covering requirements, design, development, unit testing and CI/CD automation.
- A user-first mindset and a commitment to engineering, security and design best practices.
- Relevant certifications, such as AWS Certified Developer or Solutions Architect.
- Experience with LLMs and generative AI frameworks (for example LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI or Anthropic APIs, vector databases).
- Python experience.
- Exposure to Apache Spark and to building and deploying data pipelines (ETL/ELT, batch or streaming).
- DevOps exposure including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation) and observability tooling.
- You work independently. You take ambiguous problems, break them down and drive them to production with little supervision.
- You lead. You've guided a team or pod, set technical standards and helped engineers grow.
- You think about scale, reliability and cost from day one, not as an afterthought.
- You communicate clearly with engineers and non-engineers alike.
- You're driven by the impact of your work, love digging into hard problems, and are always keen to learn something new.
- Work on real-scale problems involving high-volume APIs and large environmental datasets used by customers worldwide.
- Build products that help people and businesses respond to climate risks.
- High ownership, a small and fast-moving team, and room to grow into technical leadership.
- Exposure to data engineering, AI/ML and cloud infrastructure alongside core product work.
