Your Role at MediaLab
As the Director of Original Video Content, you will oversee the creation of unique, high-quality video content that is critical to our brands, with a particular focus on Genius.
You are a highly organized creative professional who is passionate about producing exceptional video content. While you thrive in the ideation and conceptual phases of content creation, you also have a strong understanding of the logistics and attention to detail required to see projects through to completion.
We are specifically seeking candidates based in or near Los Angeles, California, as this role will require close collaboration with teams and resources in the area.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as content lead on original video production including conception, artist identification, and execution.
- Potential to manage and grow a team as the organization evolves.
- Book and schedule talent for all original Genius video series.
- Conduct interviews with artists including research and scripting when applicable.
- Maintain and organize all details regarding artist relationships and related content publishing, primarily utilizing Monday.com.
- Manage the relationship between MediaLab and contracted third party video production agencies: oversee day to day details, production logistics, editing feedback, and publishing timelines.
- Develop relationships with labels & artists, and identify and connect with emerging artists to collaborate with on Genius.
- Collaborate with VP of Content Strategy and team stakeholders on artist targeting and content development.
- Act as the Genius QC lead, ensuring the quality of published videos.
- Assist in securing music licenses for original Genius video content.
What We’re Searching For
- 5+ Years of experience in music-focused media.
- Experience working with artists and talent
- A deep passion and knowledge of music, especially Hip-Hop, Pop, R&B, and/or Latin Music.
- Knowledge of project management tools such as Monday, Asana or Trello.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple productions or projects with competing deadlines.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Bachelors degree preferred but not required.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus
