Responsibilities:

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  1. Designing, developing, and maintaining data management systems that power our platform.

  2. Data Pipeline Development: Build robust, reliable, and scalable data pipelines from scratch. This includes identifying and integrating relevant data sources, designing data extraction, transformation, and loading processes, and implementing data quality and validation checks.

  3. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that the data infrastructure meets the needs of our product and design teams.

  4. Data Governance and Security: Establish data governance policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices for data privacy, security, and integrity. Implement mechanisms for data lineage, metadata management, and access controls.

  5. Ensuring our systems are secure, performant, and up-to-date.

  6. Taking accountability for the quality of your work, understanding that every line of code has a direct impact on the success of our company.

  7. Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.

  8. Participating in code reviews, architecture discussions, and other engineering activities to ensure that we are always building high-quality software.

  9. Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Collaborate closely with other teams to understand their data needs and provide guidance on data-related matters. Share your expertise, promote data engineering best practices, and mentor other members of the team as the data engineering function expands.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  2. Proven experience as a Data Engineer, ideally in a startup or fast-paced environment.

  3. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, Java, or Scala. Proficiency in SQL is essential.

  4. Experience building data pipelines, data warehouses, and ETL processes from scratch.

  5. Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and services (e.g., AWS, GCP) and their associated data tools.

  6. Knowledge of data modeling, data governance, and security best practices.

  7. Understanding of big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks is a plus.

  8. Self-driven and resourceful with the ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.

  9. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic startup environment.

  10. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for sharing knowledge and working closely with cross-functional teams.
