The Role

We are looking for an Internal Controller Specialist to support our AML and Compliance function.

The primary responsibility of the role is to ensure that customer files, onboarding records, and regulatory information are complete, accurate, and maintained in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

The role involves regular reviews of customer accounts, identification of missing documentation or data, follow-up with internal teams, and ongoing monitoring of the quality of customer records across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer files and verify that all required documentation has been obtained and properly stored.
  • Identify missing, expired, or inconsistent customer documentation.
  • Verify corporate documents, ownership information, UBO documentation, tax information, licenses, and other onboarding requirements.
  • Ensure TINs, VAT numbers, tax residency information, CRS/FATCA classifications, and other regulatory data are recorded where required.
  • Review completed onboarding files and conduct periodic quality and completeness reviews.
  • Monitor outstanding remediation actions and follow up with responsible teams.
  • Perform regular sample checks of customer accounts across different risk categories.
  • Verify that AML, sanctions, and customer due diligence requirements have been completed and documented.
  • Maintain records of findings and track remediation until closure.
  • Prepare periodic reports on documentation gaps, overdue reviews, and other compliance-related findings.
  • Support internal audits, external audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Identify recurring issues and propose improvements to onboarding and compliance processes.

Requirements

  • Experience in AML, Compliance, KYC, Audit, Risk, or Operations within a regulated financial institution, fintech, payment institution, EMI, bank, or crypto business.
  • Good understanding of customer due diligence and AML requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to work.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Experience with compliance systems, CRM tools, and spreadsheets is an advantage.
