Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic drone expert to join Blueflite at their office in Darwin, NT. Responsibilities include identifying commercial and grant funding opportunities, interacting with and conducting demo flights to potential customers, and acting as the point of contact for existing Blueflite customers. The successful candidate will also be the point of contact and support Blueflite’s research activities with Charles Darwin University (CDU).
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
- Contribute to the development of the Australian business strategy, aligning with overall company goals.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market analysis and customer feedback.
Business Development:
- Identify and engage potential customers, partners, and stakeholders to expand Blueflite's commercial activities.
- Develop and execute effective sales strategies to generate revenue and achieve growth targets.
- Cultivate long-term relationships with clients, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and retention.
- Stay updated on industry trends and competitive landscape to identify new business opportunities.
- Plan and execute product demonstrations (requires license to operate drones).
- Work with the Blueflite colleagues to prepare proposals for prospective clients.
Grant Seeking and Application:
- Identify relevant grant opportunities from government bodies, industry associations, and research organizations.
- Prepare and submit grant applications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to submission guidelines.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and data for grant applications.
R&D Management:
- Coordinate, manage and track collaborative research and development projects and budgets, such as ongoing activities between Blueflite and Charles Darwin University (CDU).
- Support in report preparation and report submission.
- Provide guidance and support to the research team to ensure the successful execution of projects.
- Evaluate innovative technologies and processes to enhance Blueflite's products and services.
Certification Oversight:
- Collaborate with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and CDU to progress Blueflite’s drone certification process.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards for drone operations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Holding a drone pilot license with CASA.
- Higher degree in business, engineering, aerospace/aviation or related field, or equivalent work experience in the industry.
- Experience in business development, sales, or operations management.
- Knowledge of grant application procedures and experience in securing grants is a plus.
- Understanding of drone technology, certification processes, and aviation regulations.
- Remote working experience.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in project management and collaboration with academic institutions or research organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams and achieve targets in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Remuneration:
- Salary $125,000 - $150,000 depending on level of experience
- 6 weeks leave and 17% superannuation contribution
- Contract duration will be 24 months
