Looking for Senior EV Powertrain Engineer for a pioneering EV manufacturing Company

Location : Ambattur , Chennai

Boson is an innovative startup headquartered in Silicon Valley, dedicated to advancing farm automation technology. Our mission revolves around addressing the unique challenges of farming and agriculture through the application of electric vehicles (EVs) and cutting-edge computer vision technology.

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior EV Powertrain Engineer to take the lead in the development, testing, and validation of Boson's EV powertrain systems. In this pivotal role, the selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of powertrain development, ensuring strict adherence to industry standards, safety regulations, and performance criteria.

Responsibilities

  • R&D Involvement: Collaborate with the research and development (R&D) team to actively contribute to powertrain design and development activities. Identify opportunities to enhance safety, reliability, and compliance with automotive standards.
  • Implementation of Improvements: Based on test results and findings, drive the implementation of necessary improvements and modifications to powertrain components and subsystems. Continuously seek ways to optimize performance and mitigate risks.
  • Benchmarking: Conduct benchmarking activities to evaluate the performance of our powertrains against industry competitors. Use benchmarking results to set performance goals and guide design improvements.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with mechanical engineers, robotics specialists, and production teams to manage requirements and incorporate design improvements. Foster a cross-functional approach to problem-solving.
  • Component and Subsystem Testing: Conduct thorough testing of individual powertrain components and subsystems to ensure they meet system-level requirements and automotive standards and compliances.
  • Risk Identification and Mitigation: Identify potential risk factors within the powertrain system and work proactively to implement design changes and optimize subsystems to mitigate these risks.
  • Test Plan Development: Create comprehensive test plans for EV powertrains, adhering to industry standards and regulations. These plans should encompass all aspects of testing, from component-level evaluations to system-level validation.
  • Documentation: Maintain meticulous documentation of test procedures, results, and any deviations encountered during testing. Ensure that all documentation is organized and readily accessible for reference and compliance purposes.
  • Data Logging: Implement effective data logging strategies to capture and analyze critical performance data during testing. Utilize this data to make informed decisions and recommendations for improvements.

Qualification & Specifications

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience (EV powertrain development, testing and validation)
  • BS or MS in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or any equivalent qualification and evidence of competence.
  • Excellent knowledge of EV powertrain components, performance parameters and relevant automotive EMI/EMC standards
  • Understanding of different electrical / electronics components in EV is a must.
  • Familiarity with power electronics, different traction motors and control/drives is a must.
  • Familiarity with all-wheel-drive architecture would be an advantage
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Attention to detail, Creative problem-solving
  • A structured and detail-oriented approach to problem solving and troubleshooting.

 

 

Notes: This role entails regular travel to Boson's test facilities, where you will conduct and oversee various testing procedures.
