Boson is a Silicon Valley-based start-up specializing in farm automation. We tackle agricultural challenges through innovative electric vehicles and advanced computer vision technology. As we expand our operations and impact, we are seeking a seasoned Plant Head with extensive experience in EV manufacturing to lead our flagship facility.
Job Summary:
The Plant Head will oversee all aspects of our electric vehicle manufacturing operations at our Chennai plant. This role requires a dynamic leader who combines strategic vision with proven operational expertise in the EV sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leading large teams and improving manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure the highest quality of product output.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency in alignment with corporate goals. Adequate planning for ensuring seemless production activities.
- Operations Management: Oversee the entire manufacturing process, ensuring that production targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines are met.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop a large team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance.
- Financial Oversight: Manage the plant’s budget, including capital investment and operational expenses, to ensure financial targets are met.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all manufacturing operations comply with industry standards and government regulations. Uphold the highest standards of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Innovation and Improvement: Drive initiatives to adopt new technologies and methodologies that enhance production efficiency and product quality.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior management, R&D, supply chain, Quality,sales, and marketing teams to align production capabilities with company-wide strategies.
- Vendor and Supplier Relations: Manage relationships with key suppliers and vendors to ensure the supply of high-quality materials and components.
- Monitoring : Monitoring functions and formulating models for engineering activities like trouble shooting and breakdown/preventive/shutdown maintenance for bringing down process control instruments downtime to a minimum level.
- Performance Improvisation : To showcase the skills in restructuring and fixing the production departmental KRA's/KPI's in accordance with defined processes and procedures.
- Documentation and Records :Should keep a record of all factory activties and report on important metrics.
- Improvisation : Regularly review the work process and makes necessary improvements, Develop and implement continuous improvement activities.
- Presentation of Reports :Prepare and present production reports to the management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- 15-20 years of experience in manufacturing management, with a significant portion in the electric vehicle industry.
- Proven experience in managing a large manufacturing facility with a successful track record in strategic planning and execution.
- Deep knowledge of modern manufacturing technologies and lean manufacturing principles specific to the EV sector.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, capable of managing and inspiring a diverse team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in budgeting and financial management.
