Field Sales Manager – Spain (Madrid)
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Associate Manager – Category & Trade Solutions is responsible for strengthening our in‑store presence by leading the field sales team and driving best‑in‑class execution. The role is also responsible for shaping category management and customer plans with KAMs, and for leading the delivery of reporting and data initiatives, including the management of external data providers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- External Sales Force management, acting as the key enabler between KAMs and the external sales force.
- Ensures excellence in in‑store execution, from assortment and shelf placement to promotions.
- Establishes multi‑level, cross‑functional relationships to drive business, both internally and with external partners.
- Supports the Sales team in the development of customer and commercial plans.
- Leads and manages the Category Management (CatMan) process and Customer Advisory with customers, in line with company priorities.
- Conducts periodic category analysis on assortment and recommends areas for improvement.
- Oversees monthly Nielsen database updates to inform both external customers and the internal Sales organization.
- Manages merchandising activities and the sales force budget.
- Leads the delivery of reporting and data initiatives, ensuring accurate, timely, and actionable insights for decision‑making.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES:
- Degree level education or equivalent, emphasis on Sales & Marketing
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Good experience in a mix of Category Management / Trade Marketing and Field Sales
- Working experience in a major FMCG company
- Team management experience, very valuable if big teams with different levels of report
- Strong communicator and team worker, able to build relationships at all levels and across functions (internal) and customers/partners (external) in an ambiguous environment
- Strong analytical skills and ability to prioritize
- Understanding and knowledge of the Spanish & European retail environment
- Ability to drive results with high degree of initiative, autonomy and speed
