About the Role

The Government Affairs Engagement Manager at the Washington Hospitality Association plays a critical role in building a vibrant and inclusive hospitality community throughout Seattle. This position involves cultivating strong relationships with hospitality operators, local chapters, and key community organizations to foster active participation and a sense of belonging within the Association. The manager will lead initiatives that encourage long-term engagement with grassroots efforts impacting the hospitality industry and serve as a primary liaison for community-facing activities. In addition to community engagement, this role is responsible for comprehensive board management and administrative coordination for two local chapters, supporting election-related efforts, and collaborating closely with the Seattle Senior Government Affairs Manager as part of a two-person Seattle team. The position requires strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities to ensure a well-connected hospitality network spanning Seattle neighborhoods. The ideal candidate will be passionate about service, collaborative, and committed to advancing the interests of the hospitality community.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain relationships with members, local chapters, community leaders, and industry groups to strengthen community ties
  • Develop and implement strategies to encourage long-term member engagement and participation in grassroots advocacy
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team to produce timely and compelling communications that drive member involvement
  • Create and manage pilot partnership programs with local groups centered on specific Seattle neighborhoods
  • Oversee all logistics and preparation for Seattle Hotel Association and Seattle Restaurant Alliance Board meetings including budgeting and compliance
  • Support members in election fundraising efforts, conduct candidate outreach, and endorse policies benefiting the hospitality sector
  • Participate in cross-departmental collaboration and uphold Association Core Values in all interactions
