About Catalyx Space:
We’re building AWS for space—providing in-space experiments and tech demos across LEO, deep space, and lunar orbit. Our offerings include unmanned labs, testbeds for rideshare and dedicated missions, and re-entry capsules for payload return. We simplify access with end-to-end solutions, no minimum mass limits, zero integration fees, and fast deployment (≤6 months), serving biopharma, semiconductors, materials science, defense, and more.
Role:
As a Mid-Level Mechanical Design Engineer (Structures), you will take ownership of subsystem-level design, analysis, and integration for spacecraft and reentry vehicles. You will work across CAD design, FEA modelling, hardware integration, and wire harness routing within spacecraft assemblies.
This role is ideal for engineers who want to see their work move from design to real-world integration and qualification.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop SolidWorks CAD models and detailed drawings for spacecraft structures and assemblies
- Perform FEA modelling and analysis, including structural, modal, buckling, and vibration studies, using ANSYS, Abaqus, or equivalent tools
- Execute tolerance stack-up analyses and apply GD&T in compliance with ASME Y14.5 standards
- Define and implement assembly sequences for spacecraft structures and subsystems
- Own wire harness routing, modelling, and documentation within spacecraft CAD assemblies
- Participate in harness integration, including installation, strain relief, and fit verification
- Contribute to qualification campaigns, including vibration, thermal, and acoustic testing, and support correlation between analysis and test results
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) in assigned designs
- Coordinate with vendors for manufacturing, inspection, and delivery of hardware
- Generate engineering documentation and reports for design reviews and configuration management
- Support procurement activities and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of parts and services
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in aerospace structural design and integration
- Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD
- Proficiency in FEA modelling for structural, modal, and vibration analysis
- Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis
- Exposure to composites, sandwich panels, and high-temperature materials
- Familiarity with wire harness integration and CAD-based routing tools
- Hands-on experience with spacecraft integration and environmental testing is preferred
Nice to have:
- Experience with harness brackets, supports, and strain-relief design
- Experience correlating FEA results with qualification test data
- Ability to own subassemblies end-to-end
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to support extended hours or weekend work during critical integration or test phases
Compensation & benefits:
- Competitive salary (details will be shared with shortlisted candidates),
- health insurance
- Provident fund.
