As an Investigator, you excel at proactively conducting research, analyzing data, writing reports, and presenting your investigative findings to both team members and customers. You are confident in advocating for the Chainalysis mission of bringing trust to blockchains and are proficient in leveraging our tools and data to develop insights into illicit activity trends in cryptocurrency and their impact on our customers. By collaborating with team members across Chainalysis, you will help support the most intricate financial crime investigations to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Please note that this role requires you to be physically on-site with the customer in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area (WMA) on an as-needed basis.

In this role, you'll:

  • Collaborate with team members and across Chainalysis to support complex cryptocurrency investigations

  • Provide investigative and analytic support for technical and highly sensitive investigations and initiatives pertaining to blockchain technologies and cryptocurrency-based crime

  • Conduct research and data analysis, author investigative reports, and present those findings to team members and customers

  • Review the adequacy and completeness of investigations and the data collection methods to determine the authenticity, accuracy, and relevance of that data–resulting in more thorough investigations and analytic assessments

  • Evangelize the Chainalysis mission of bringing trust to blockchains, becoming an expert in using our tools and data to generate insights on illicit activity trends in crypto and their impact on our customers

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • A degree in cybersecurity, cyber crime, intelligence, criminal justice, forensic accounting, data analysis, or similar experience

  • Previous work experience conducting complex financial crime investigations for federal government, intelligence analysis, or equivalent forensic experience related to dark web, counter-terrorism, or network/threat analysis

  • Previous experience with Chainalysis software and data

  • Experience conducting open source research using public and private databases

  • An interest in and/or passion for blockchain/cryptocurrency technology

  • Previous professional or personal experience in the DeFi space

  • An active U.S. Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) security clearance with polygraph

This position is ineligible for visa sponsorship.

Due to the nature of the work performed in this facility, U.S. Citizenship is required.
