Principal Investigator (Contract)
Citruslabs
Las Vegas, NV, USA · Remote
Who we are
Citruslabs is a decentralized CRO that runs IRB-approved clinical trials and consumer perception studies for health and wellness brands. Brands like Love Wellness, Beekeeper's Naturals, Sakara, Saie, Rael, and Dime trust us with their research. We've run 500+ studies, we're an Inc. 5000 company, and we do it with a small team and an AI-forward platform.
We're not pharma. We're faster, leaner, and closer to the consumer. If you've ever wanted your scientific expertise to shape the products people actually use every day, this is a great fit.
The role
We are looking for a contract Principal Investigator to support our clinical studies on an ongoing basis. This is a flexible, part-time engagement, approximately 5 to 10 hours per week, designed to complement your existing work, whether that's a full-time academic position, a consulting practice, or other research commitments.
You will serve as PI on our studies, review protocols and study materials, ensure methodological rigor, and join client calls when scientific expertise is needed. You won't be doing this in a vacuum. You'll work closely with our Head of Science, medical writer, and our client success team.
This is not a "sign off and disappear" PI role. We need someone who is engaged, responsive, and genuinely invested in the quality of the work.
What you will do
- Serve as Principal Investigator on IRB-approved clinical trials and consumer perception studies.
- Review and provide input on study protocols, materials, and reports.
- Ensure study designs and methodologies are scientifically sound and defensible.
- Join client calls to represent the science, answer methodology questions, and provide expert guidance.
- Collaborate with our Head of Science, medical writers, and client success team to maintain study quality.
- Assess study risks, feasibility concerns, or protocol issues.
What we are looking for
- PhD, PharmD, DrPH, or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field (nutrition, public health, pharmacology, exercise science, biomedical science, or similar).
- Experience with clinical trial design and oversight.
- Comfortable with biostatistics, you understand study design, endpoints, and what makes an analysis defensible.
- A strong communicator who can translate science for non-scientific audiences on client calls.
- Responsive and reliable. This is a part-time role, but when you're needed, we need you to show up
- Genuinely interested in health and wellness, supplements, functional foods, skincare, consumer health
This role is not for you if...
- You see PI work as a rubber stamp rather than a responsibility.
- You're uncomfortable speaking up on calls.
- You treat a 5-hour-a-week engagement as an afterthought.
Other Details
- Contract role, approximately 5 to 10 hours per week
- $75 per hour
- Fully remote
- Ongoing engagement, not project-based
How to apply
Send us a short letter of motivation explaining why this role interests you and why you're a strong fit (applications without a letter of motivation will not be considered). Please include the word "Banana" somewhere in your note.
