AYSO PLAY! Youth Soccer Coach (Torrance, CA)
Start Date: End of October, 2024
Part Time: After School Hours (approx. 3 pm – 6pm / Mon – Fri)
POSITION OVERVIEW
American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) is looking for a passionate, and hands-on Youth Soccer Coach to implement delivery of grassroots, after-school enrichment soccer programs. Candidates for this role should have a passion for soccer and experience in coaching student athletes.
This position will support an after-school enrichment program that is part of the Torrance Unified School District.
AYSO will be providing daily soccer programming for several elementary and middle schools. Work hours will generally be between 3pm and 6 pm daily (Mon-Fri).
The successful candidate will receive best-in-class training and support as well as all the necessary coaching equipment to effectively delivery the program objectives.
The American Youth Soccer Organization is the oldest non-profit, national youth soccer program in the United States. Our mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs throughout the country which promote a fun, family friendly environment, built on the foundation of our Six Philosophies.
ESSENTIAL ROLE FUNCTIONS
The AYSO Office will provide direction and management support to the position to set up an essential structure.
The ideal candidate will:
Implement after-school soccer coaching programs to support AYSO’s outreach initiatives within schools.
Organize age-appropriate activities that are aligned with our AYSO & AYSO PLAY! Schools’ curriculum and methodology.
Motivate and guide students to achieve success.
Encourage teamwork and good sportsmanship during and after session times.
Track, record, and report attendance of individual programs.
Align with AYSO’s organizational philosophies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Passion for the game of soccer.
Excellent communication skills.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
Have previously worked with elementary and/or middle school aged children.
Valid state driving license and independent transportation.
Minimum two (2) years coaching experience.
Experience playing soccer is a plus.
Minimum US Soccer Grassroots license or AYSO Coach Certification (10U or higher)
Successfully pass a criminal background check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
These physical requirements are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Travel locally to program locations within the boundaries of Torrance Unified School District.
Able to set up & break down coaching environment (goals, cones etc.)
Physically capable to potentially run 2-3 consecutive field sessions.
Vision acuity sufficient to manage youth soccer programming.
Speaking and hearing sufficient to conduct training sessions and game play.
COMPENSATION
Compensation: $20 – $25 p/h based on experience.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
