Coaches are instrumental in fostering student personal growth and development in all interactions with student-athletes, not limited to competitions and practices.
Primary function : To develop Christian athletes while implementing an exemplary program that will effectively and relentlessly pursue victory without sacrificing intentional Christian character.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
As a Christian individual, employed with a Christian institution, Employee acknowledges and affirms that Employee believes, embraces and at all times does and will follow the School’s Statement of Faith, as expressed in Exhibit A attached and incorporated hereto.
Employee shall follow Biblical patterns and principles and will manifest by precept and example the highest Christian virtues, values and personal decorum to serve as a Christian role model at all times.
Employee understands that continued employment with School is contingent upon this commitment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
General responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Work cooperatively with the entire athletic staff
- Maintain good public relations with media, board members, parents, officials, players, and fans
- Demonstrate professional growth
- Provide game results to Athletic Department and Max Preps
- Demonstrate leadership skills and Godly characteristics
- Accept responsibilities outside the team as they relate to the school and community (i.e. Fresh Start Day, Open House)
- Assume responsibility for care of materials, equipment and facilities
- Assume responsibility for reporting necessary facility issues or repairs to Athletic Department
- Perform seasonal inventory of all equipment and uniforms
- Be responsible for game day set-up and clean-up of the facilities
- Work with Athletic Department to locate and secure necessary off-campus facilities (golf, tennis, softball, baseball, cross country / track)
- Assume responsibility for a clean, safe environment for student-athletes committed to the coach’s care.
- Responsible for requesting necessary transportation in a timely manner (through Athletic Department)
- Responsible for communicating practice schedules with Athletic Department
- Create pre-season / non-league schedule for program
- Demonstrate an interest in student-athletes and the overall athletic program
- Encourage self-direction and self-motivation in students
- Create clearly defined standards of behavior and academic performance
- Empower and lead a coaching staff in a Christ-like manner
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for coaching and learning
Other Responsibilities :
- Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with other organizations, ensuring the school is well received and presented professionally and positively
- Respect confidentiality of all personal and organizational information
- Assist in other duties as needed and directed by the Athletic Director
INTERACTION :
- Interact internally with faculty, staff, and students. Interact externally with parents, schools, and the community.
- Practice and promote positive interaction with and among student-athletes, the school and community.
COMMUNICATION :
Communicate well with parents and student-athletes about goals, expectations, evaluations, grades, practice dates and times, game schedule, and any other pertinent information / content.
CERTIFICATIONS :
- CIF Coaching requirements as deemed necessary by athletics administration
- CPR & First Aid Certification is required for Coaches at all levels (i.e. varsity, junior varsity, frosh)
Qualifications
JOB-RELATED QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS :
Education
Minimum Education requirements are dependent upon the level of coaching required
Work Experience
- Minimum of one year coaching desired
- Experience coaching at the high school level or higher desired
- Experience coaching in a Christian school or faith-based organization and / or non-profit organization desired
Language Skills
- Requires excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to effectively respond to questions from staff, students, parents, and vendors
Additional Requirements
- A good, helpful attitude and a team spirit is the hallmark of the support staff at MHS
- Coaches are encouraged to be active in their local churches

Evaluation
Performance of this position may be evaluated by the Athletic Director at any time during or following completion of team’s season (i.
e. winter, fall, spring). One-on-one meetings will be held between the AD and head coach before and after the season to set expectations and share feedback.

The work environment can be indoors and / or outdoors. The environment is typically free from dust and hazardous materials.
