Baseball Trainer Part-Time

STATEMENT OF THE JOB

The Head Baseball Coach is a key member of the Health & Wellness team and will report to the Director of the Tanenbaum Family Pool. The primary responsibilities include marketing to area hands-on coaching, lesson planning, and being a role model of good sportsmanship for athletes aged 4-18 years old. Commonpoint Queens offers coaching opportunities in Baseball, Tee-Ball, and Softball. The Coaches’ main goal is to ensure that fair play and the philosophy of the Youth Sports Programs is maintained.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in creating and implementing the Commonpoint Queens Baseball Academy that aims to build player skills both on and off of the field
  • Customize and implement lesson plans for effective practices and skills clinics
  • Create a growing client base for both classes and private training sessions throughout the Greater Queens community
  • Assess and improve a player’s skills and abilities to help them become the best player both on and off the field
  • Maintain supervision of each athlete under the care of the Youth Sports program
  • Organize and maintain all sports equipment and storage areas
  • Communicate directly with class participants and parents
  • Represent Commonpoint Queens in a positive light at all times


SKILLS AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Varsity High School or College Baseball or Softball background a must
  • Impeccable organizational and time management skills
  • Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to show initiative while prioritizing tasks
  • Ability to multitask
  • Be responsible and trustworthy
  • Previous experience coaching children
  • Teach life skills and help develop strong character for all players
  • Communicate effectively with administration, parents, players and referees
  • Perform any related duties as assigned by Director
  • Assisting in equipment set-up and breakdown while maintaining a safe and clean environment in the practice area
  • Ability to be flexible and to adjust work schedule to reflect varying accounting deadlines
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
