Middle School Boys Volleyball Coach (Beginner Level)

Overview:
Our small school is seeking an enthusiastic and engaged volleyball coach to lead our beginner-level middle school boys’ team. The team consists of eight 7th graders and one 6th grader who are eager to learn and develop their skills. We compete in a competitive interscholastic league with eight other small schools, but our primary focus is on skill development and fostering a love for the game.

Schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (possibly one Wednesday during playoff week)
Practices are 3:45-5:15, games are 4:30 and 5:30. There is a good chance we will only field one team, so we would only have a 4:30 game.

Responsibilities:

>Teach the fundamental skills of volleyball, including passing, setting, hitting, and serving.
>Create a positive and encouraging environment for beginner players.
>Develop age-appropriate drills and practice plans to build individual and team skills.
>Encourage players to attempt passing, setting, and hitting, while recognizing the limitations of beginner play.
>Foster sportsmanship, teamwork, and a growth mindset in all athletes.
>Provide basic game strategy and instruction within the time constraints of the season.
>Supervise and guide players during practices and interscholastic competitions.

Qualifications:

>Prior coaching or playing experience in volleyball preferred.
>Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for working with middle school athletes.
>Ability to teach fundamental skills in an engaging and accessible way.
>Commitment to creating a fun and supportive learning environment.
>Availability for practices and games during the season.
