Position: Assistant Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach (2 coaching positions open)

Work Schedule: Spring 2025, on or about March 17, 2025 to June 2025

Direct Report: Athletics Director

FLSA Status-Temporary/Seasonal Exempt

Summary: Friends Academy Athletic Department is looking to hire two qualified Assistant Varsity Coaches for our boys Lacrosse team. At Friends Academy, athletics are at the core of a balanced educational experience and hold equal footing with academics and the arts in the overall development of our future global citizens. We are searching for someone with excellent communication skills who thrives in a vibrant educational environment, embraces change, and has a deep interest in our Quaker mission and educational philosophy.

Our League: Our boy’s lacrosse athletes compete with great success in Section VIII. Though we are one of the smallest schools in the league – and the only independent school – we’ve fielded championship teams in boys’ field hockey. In addition to Lacrosse, we currently, have 20 Varsity Sports and 10 middle school sports offered.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Promoting and creating a positive team culture, developing fundamentals and skills of the game, organizing and enthusiastically running practices, and implementing effective game strategies. Assist the Boys Head Coach with directing and organizing the Upper School varsity and junior varsity boys’ lacrosse program. Develop a comprehensive and functional knowledge of the sport and maintain a working applicable knowledge of all related guidelines and regulations. Maintain appropriate effective communications with students and parents. Will provide guidance to student-athletes engaged in the recruitment process while working with the College Guidance office.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous experience coaching boys lacrosse at the high school or collegiate level is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to adhere to the appropriate principles of coaching and adapt to industry skills, standards, and techniques as required
  • The position requires the candidates to complete a NYS criminal background check.

Pay: $3500 for the season
