Job Title: Head Girls Basketball Coach (Teaching History/Math)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to lead our girls’ basketball program, with the opportunity to teach either History or Math. This position requires someone with proven coaching experience, a commitment to excellence, and a desire to build a championship-level program that will make an impact on and off the court.
Key Responsibilities:
- Head Coach: Lead the girls’ basketball program, overseeing all aspects of team development from varsity to junior varsity and middle school levels. Create a competitive and positive environment for all athletes.
- Program Development: Build and develop three competitive levels within the program (Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshman). Implement a comprehensive coaching strategy for skill development, mental toughness, and team cohesion.
- Playoff Success: Lead the team to playoff-level competition. Proven experience in guiding a team through postseason play is a must. Aim to consistently compete at a high level in UIL competitions.
- Recruitment and Retention: Build and maintain a strong program pipeline by fostering relationships with middle school coaches, scouts, and the community. Retain top talent and create a culture that attracts new athletes to the program.
- Compliance: Stay current on UIL rules, district policies, and regulations. Ensure that the program operates in full compliance with district and state policies.
- Community Engagement: Foster a positive relationship with parents, alumni, and the local community to build support for the program. Participate in fundraising efforts, team events, and other program-related activities.
- Academic Integration: Support the academic success of athletes by balancing athletics with the educational responsibilities of student-athletes. Work closely with the academic team to ensure student-athletes meet eligibility requirements.
Qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of successful coaching experience, either as a Head Coach or 1st Assistant at the high school level, with proven success in developing competitive teams.
- Playoff Experience: Must have experience coaching teams to the playoffs, with a strong understanding of what it takes to build a postseason-contending team.
- Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of UIL basketball rules and regulations. Must be up-to-date with all district policies and procedures regarding athletics.
- Teaching Experience: Must be certified to teach History or Math. Ability to effectively balance coaching responsibilities with classroom instruction.
- Leadership: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop student-athletes both on and off the court.
- Commitment: A passion for teaching and coaching. Strong work ethic, commitment to student-athletes, and a drive to develop a high-performing program.
