STATEMENT OF THE JOB: There are three positions are available.
TENNIS COACH
SOCCER COACH
BASKETBALL COACH
Youth Sports Coaches are key members of the Health & Wellness team and will report to the Senior Director of Health & Wellness. The primary
responsibilities include hands-on-coaching, lesson planning, and role modeling good sportsmanship for athletes aged 2-13 years old. Coaching
opportunities in the following sports; Tennis, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Lacrosse, and Baseball/Tee-Ball. Youth Sports Coaches ensure
that fair play and the philosophy of the Youth Sports Programs is maintained. She/he is expected to assist in assessing a player’s skills and abilities to help
create a balanced playing field. Create and implement lesson plans for practices. Maintain supervision and care of each athlete under the care of
the Youth Sports program. Organizing and maintaining sports equipment. Directly responsible for communicating team practices and games to team
members. Represent Commonpoint Queens in a positive light at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead skill-focused practices.
- Develop age-appropriate training programs.
- Foster teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
- Evaluate player progress and provide feedback.
- Coach scheduled practices.
- Collaborate with parents and staff
- Maintain safety and enforce program policies.
- Act as a mentor and positive role model.
Qualifications:
- Previous youth coaching experience.
- Strong knowledge of sports fundamentals and strategies.
- Experience working with diverse youth backgrounds.
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and time management skill
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain
Preferred Skills:
- Experience creating structured practice plans.
- Understanding of child development in sports.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Certification from recognized coaching organizations
(e.g., United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) or the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR).
(e.g., National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) or U.S. Soccer Grassroots.
(e.g., USA Basketball National Alliance for Youth Sports).
Additional Responsibilities:
- Set expectations for team involvement and behavior.
- Assist with equipment setup and breakdown.
- Complete required reports and attend training sessions.
Schedule & Availability:
- Late afternoon/evening and weekend availability is required.
- Commitment to practices throughout the season.
