The History of Camp Marimeta

Camp Marimeta is located in Eagle River, Wisconsin—approximately 330 miles north of the city of Chicago. The camp opened on Meta Lake in 1947 and has since become a beautiful campground that houses 250+ campers and counsellors every summer.

Since the camp’s inception, three families have operated it over the years. The camp started with Edna and Nate Wasserman when they bought a small three-cabin resort. From 1984 to 2021, third-generation directors, Sandy and Terry Cohen, have kept things running at Camp Marimeta, turning it into the blossoming success that it is now.

Camp Marimeta is a values-based residential summer camp for girls ages 8-15. Campers attend for 4 or 8 weeks. As part of our programming, we require tennis for all campers and we offer private lessons for more dedicated athletes. We are looking to hire a tennis pro to take over our tennis program; they will be assisted by counselors with tennis experience but who do not have coaching experience. This role is open to all genders and anyone 20+ (although we will consider 18 and 19 year olds with extensive prior tennis instruction experience). We are ideally looking for a candidate who has taught both groups and individuals at all skills from beginners to competitive high school tennis players.

Group lessons include skill building and games, and a desire from our team to impart a lifelong sport to the girls in addition to the traits of confidence, self-talk and perseverance, and good sportsmanship. Ideal candidates, in addition to the practical/specific skills of tennis should have a good sense of humor, patience and creativity; this is summer camp after all!

Unique to this role is that you will live at camp; room, board, and all meals are included in addition to pay. We also offer a travel reimbursement to get you up to camp!
