The Manchester College offers a unique opportunity to join our team as a Sessional Basketball Coach at our Openshaw Campus on a fixed-term, sessional (ADHOC) basis until July 2025.
About the Role
The primary responsibility of a sessional basketball coach in the Further Education sector is to deliver high-quality coaching and mentoring to students, promoting their physical, technical, and tactical development while fostering teamwork, discipline, and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver structured and engaging basketball sessions to students aged 16-19.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that aligns with the institution’s educational and extracurricular goals.
- Support the team during training and match days, both home and away.
Requirements:
- Level 2 Basketball Coaching qualification recognized by Basketball England or equivalent.
- Current safeguarding certification (Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults).
- Valid First Aid certificate.
- Proven experience coaching basketball, particularly with young people aged 16-19.
- Experience planning, delivering, and evaluating basketball coaching sessions.
- Familiarity with working within a structured educational or sports environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate students.
- Ability to design inclusive and progressive coaching sessions catering to different skill levels.
- Organizational skills to manage schedules, competitions, and other logistics.
- Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities and ability to uphold health and safety standards.
