About the position
The Head Coach for Boys Varsity Basketball at KIPP Public Schools Northern California is responsible for leading and developing the basketball program at the high school level. This part-time position involves coaching athletes, organizing practices, and ensuring compliance with school policies and sports regulations. The coach will work closely with students, faculty, and the Athletic Department to foster a positive and safe environment for athletic development.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct the assigned basketball team.
- Instruct and demonstrate necessary skill sets and techniques for individual and team development.
- Communicate and enforce team rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility.
- Conduct tryouts and inform participants of final selections.
- Consult with the Athletic Director on off-season training programs and scheduling.
- Create a safe environment conducive to learning and development.
- Supervise athletes during practices and games, ensuring their safety until they are picked up by guardians.
- Model good sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct towards all stakeholders.
Requirements
- 2 to 3 years of high school or club basketball coaching experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Valid CA Class C license and current insurance coverage.
- Safe driving record with a DMV report.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
