Full job description
The Olympic Club, a private member athletic and country club in San Francisco, seeks a part-time Junior Assistant Basketball Coach – Sumer Camp for our downtown City Clubhouse. At The Olympic Club, our members enjoy 2 campuses, 19 sports, world-renowned golf courses, exceptional social and athletic programs as well as 18 hotel rooms and 5 Food & Beverage outlets. Our City Clubhouse is located one block from Union Square and within easy walking distance of the Powell Street BART station. Our Lakeside Clubhouse sits next to the ocean on the border of San Francisco and Daly City.
The Olympic Club offers employees free golf on Mondays at our Lakeside campus and a variety of sports and social events for employees throughout the year as well as lunch and dinner provided every day.
Position Overview:
Coach the Junior Basketball League ages 8-18. Teach basketball skills and team play.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Coach the team during Sundays in the Fall and Spring Seasons
- Help with gym set up which includes setting up chairs and bleachers, handing out jerseys, and putting out basketballs
- Coach during the 10 minute skill sessions before each game
- Post game social interaction with parents, conduct informal evaluations of their child and answer any questions
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager or other management of The Club
- Regular attendance required based on business expectations and needs
- Adheres to all federal, state, local and San Francisco laws regarding health, safety and employment
Qualifications Required:
- High School diploma and must be at least 18 years of age
- High School basketball coaching experience required
- Must have an excellent ability to teach basketball skills to individuals and teams
- Strong knowledge of basketball rules and techniques
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Have excellent communication skills, and be able to communicate effectively with children and young adults
- Must be a positive role model
