Description
The Position Assistant Football Coach – Offensive Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Head Football Coach in coordinating the offensive unit of the football team, preparing and conducting practices, training, competition game planning, and recruiting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the offensive unit by assisting, directing, and game planning on the offensive side of the ball;
- Supervise and direct assistant offensive coaches;
- Develop performance standards for student-athletes to maximize their potential and achieve high levels of competition;
- Acknowledge athletic performance and improvement, providing feedback and guidance on progress;
- Deliver effective instruction and motivation to assistant offensive coaches and players;
- Establish high expectations for student-athletes in both academics and athletic performance;
- Develop and implement practice plans and strategies for athletic events;
- Supervise NMHU athletic events, enforcing sportsmanship standards;
- Assist with game management for home events when not competing;
- Participate in developing and supervising community service events;
- Oversee student-athletes during road trips;
- Promote positive participation in events enhancing the athletic experience for student-athletes;
- Contribute to planning and participating in fundraising activities for individual programs and the athletic department;
- Adhere to NCAA, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and institutional rules and regulations;
- Organize, prepare, and conduct offensive team practices, training, and competition;
- Recruit potential student athletes;
- Mentor and advise assistant offensive coaches and student athletes;
- Support the Head Football Coach as required;
- Maintain regular attendance;
- Perform other duties assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in any field;
- No prior coaching experience required;
- Preferred qualifications include previous collegiate coaching and Offensive Coordinator experience.
Special Conditions for Eligibility
- Must complete the NCAA coaches curriculum within two months of employment;
- Must be willing to work weekends, evenings, and odd hours as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules;
- Ability to lead and motivate position coaches on the offensive unit;
- Knowledge of NCAA student athlete academic eligibility requirements;
- Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in area of sporting specialty;
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills;
- Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies;
- Knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules;
- Knowledge of travel/lodging planning and scheduling;
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment;
- Ability to organize and coordinate;
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
