Independent FC Program Coordinator

For the IFC Soccer Club teams—support coaches and coach teams

Approximately 20 hours per week starting in August 2025

About Independent FC

IFC offers soccer opportunities to more than 300 boys and girls in San

Francisco. We are a community of 20 teams ranging in ages from micro

soccer to high school. We are a “public” soccer club and charge very low

fees to join. The club is recognized as a “Project Play Champion” by the

Aspen Institute for Sport and Society because of our commitment to

access, equity, fun, and excellence. IFC is a program of America SCORES

Bay Area, a non-profit organization that has provided free soccer and

after-school enrichment programs for over 20 years. We collaborate

closely with Mission Youth Soccer League (MYSL) for player and league

registrations.

Statement of Purpose and Core Objectives:

The Program Coordinator supports the IFC coaches with their teams, lesson plans

and soccer curriculum. The Program Coordinator builds strong relationships with

coaches, students, parents and America SCORES Bay Area who is our mayor partner.

The Program Coordinator reports to the IFC Program Director and will maintain

consistent, on-going communication with the IFC Program Director.

Schedule: The candidate must be available at least three days during the week from

Monday–Friday from 2-7 PM. Additional, coaching games on the weekend during

the fall/spring season is expected.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Learn how to run timeslot, NorCal website
  • Learn the IFC Soccer Curriculum.
  • Study the US Soccer Cocurricular and apply it with the IFC Program
  • Create/Expand the IFC Soccer Curriculum
  • Provide ongoing support to IFC coaches
  • Manage the weekly calendar of team practices in coordination with IFC

Program Director

  • Interact and communicate effectively with IFC staff, coaches, parents,

student-athletes, and other IFC/SCORES related contacts as needed.

  • Building relationships with youth through positive interactions and role

modeling.

Seasonal Schedule of Activities

Before the Season: Communicate Expectations, Prepare, Recruit

1. Discuss expectations for the season with IFC coaches

2. Run coaches’ workshops with IFC Coaches

3. Go over soccer curriculum with coaches—lessons, activities

During Season: Engage, Inspire, And Assist

1. Hold weekly meetings with coaches via zoom or in person

● Support your coaches and Assist with practice and class, model good

coaching, lead and demonstrate engaging activities, work with students in

small groups, reinforce IFC values and help create a positive, supportive

team culture.

● Maintain consistent communication with the SCORES Program Director

about how practices and classes are going.

● Build relationships with students and parents.

2. Help coaches prepare for practice/ Game Days and events.

● Get students excited for Game Days and events.

● Help the IFC coaches inform parents about games and events (hand

out fliers, word of mouth, etc.)

4. Communicate site success and challenges to the IFC Program Director

● Check-in with the IFC Program Director to solve problems.

● Any major concerns about students’ physical and emotional safety, as

well as concerns about the health of the program, MUST be

communicated to the IFC Program Director immediately.

End of Season / After Season: Re-Collect, Review, Reward

1. Help collect equipment, paper and/or attendance sheets.

2. Reflect on and review the season with the IFC Program Director.

3. Thank students, coaches, staff, parents and celebrate the team’s

accomplishments.

4. Help organize end of the season team party and distribute coach and

student awards.

Qualifications:

Comfortable working with urban youth from diverse backgrounds

in non-conventional spaces. Possess sound competency with youth development

principles, mentoring, counseling or coaching. Soccer coaching and/or classroom

teaching experience a plus. Must have strong verbal and interpersonal

Communication skills:

must be organized, patient, detail-oriented and able to multi-

task. Background check and TB test required.

Compensation:

$30 per hour depending on experience and credentials.

Reimbursements for travel, mileage, and phone service.

Professional Development: we will pay for the D license and other soccer Licenses

that will benefit the IFC Organization.
