At Cathedral School for Boys, we believe that physical activity nurtures both personal and intellectual growth. The Role
Cathedral School for Boys seeks enthusiastic soccer coaches to guide and inspire children (ages 5–12) in a fun, safe, and competitive environment.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep passion for soccer, sound technical knowledge, and a commitment to student-focused coaching. We seek energetic, creative, and caring individuals “school people” at heart who value community involvement and mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Uphold Cathedral’s Mission and Athletics Philosophy
- Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate training sessions
- Teach fundamentals: dribbling, passing, shooting, strategy, teamwork, and sportsmanship
- Ensure a fun, inclusive, and safe learning environment
- Design drills and small-sided games tailored to each athlete’s needs
- Inspire and uplift young players, fostering confidence and love of the game
- Provide constructive, positive coaching feedback
- Attend and coach all scheduled games
Qualifications
- Passion for soccer and youth development
- Coaching experience (youth programs or camps ideal)
- Familiarity with the sport and techniques, rules, and tactics
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive, patient, and motivational demeanor
- Reliable, punctual, and proactive
Certifications (or willingness to obtain):
- First Aid & CPR
- Concussion Training
- Fundamentals of Coaching
- Relevant soccer coaching license
- Must complete FBI/DOJ Live Scan clearance
Commitment
- Season Length: 8–10 weeks (Fall)
- Weekly Schedule: 1–2 practices (2 hrs each) between 3:30–6:30 pm
- Weekend Games: Typically Saturdays
- Physical Requirements: Stand/walk on field for extended periods; demonstrate techniques; lift 40 lbs+
Compensation
- Seasonal stipend ($2000 – $3000) per team.
