- Organize, prepare for and lead productive sessions in a positive environment that promotes self esteem, teamwork and pride for St. Anthony Yellow Jackets.
- Assess players skills, monitors players during competition and practice; determine game strategy.
- Organize, direct, and supervise student athletes during individual and small group practice activities/exercises, as well as games.
- Communicate regularly with team, parents and athletic directors.
- Attend all practices and games throughout the season; game attendance will require travel based on schedule.
- Model good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials and spectators.
- Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
- Collaborate with Athletic Director to ensure eligibility, inventory, and other related paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
- Participate in special activities which includes parents’ night, athletic banquet, and pep rallies.
- Attend staff meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching and performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work within and balance the basketball team budget.
- Identify and execute three (3) fundraising events throughout the year.
- Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills to teach multiple offensive and defensive skills, as well as effective game plans necessary to field a competitive program.
- Thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, and techniques of basketball.
- Strong communication skills with ability to remain professional and collected regardless of the circumstances with students, parents, staff, or opposing team.
- Ability to consistently follow the mission of St. Anthony Catholic High School.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with school administrators, teachers, parents and students.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Bachelors Degree;
- Experience as a player at the collegiate or professional level.
- CPR certified or CPR certified within 15 days of hire.
- First Aid certified or ability to obtain within 15 days of hire.
- Regular practice hours Mon-Fri after school (school days only) from 3:30-5:30pm.
- All games, both weekday and weekend mandatory.
- Special activity mandatory attendance based on schedule, to include senior night, athletic banquet, parents night, and pep rallies.
- Ability to lift sports equipment weighing up to 50 lbs waist high.
- Ability to effectively move about to appropriately demonstrate plays and drills in this sport during practice, as well as sideline coach during games.
- Ability to actively engage in games and events for extended periods of time.
- Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage faculty, staff, parents and students.
