The Men’s Baseball Head Coach is responsible for coaching and administration of the USC Sumter Men’s Baseball program to include the development, implementation, management and compliance of an NJCAA Baseball program. Responsibilities also include the recruitment of student athletes, field management and fundraising to support athletic programs and facilities as well as other duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 5 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications
Collegiate coaching is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to recruit, coach and teach highly talented student-athletes.
Ability to communicate and organize effectively.
Ability to represent the department and University in a professional manner.
Job Duty Responsible for all aspects of the program including but not limited to: recruiting, strength and conditioning, practices, competitions, and teaching and instructing all aspects of a college level program. Recruiting a 70 student-athletes roster.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 35 Job Duty
Available on weekends and evenings. Commits to and is responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the University, and NJCAA Region X with the utmost integrity Help maintain accountability for scholarship limitations. Manage all recruiting efforts for the program and determine scholarship offers.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25 Job Duty
Coordinate all aspects of team travel including but not limited to transportation, hotel reservations, meal money coordination, completion of travel authorizations and reimbursement and reconciliation of all team trips.

Oversee all aspects of academic enhancement and stay current on academic progress of the programs’ student-athletes. Assist with student housing and admission issues and coordination of efforts with on-campus student services. Assists the administration with alumni relations and scholarship fundraising.

Work with maintenance and university grounds to maintain and continually improve the condition of the playing and practice surfaces and surrounding facility. Update program information on athletics website.

Works cooperatively with personnel in the Athletics Department, attends department meetings and activities, and represents the University in a positive manner when interacting with the community, alumni, media and general public. Keep athletic administration abreast of all information related to the program including schedules, results, and statistics.
