Varsity Table Tennis Coach (Head Coach & Assistant Coach)
Location: Private School – Upper West Side, New York City
Season: November 3 – February 12
Compensation: $3,500 – $4,000
About the Program
Our private school on the Upper West Side is seeking a Varsity Table Tennis Head Coach and an Assistant Coach to lead and support our high school program (grades 9–12). The team includes a mix of recreational and competitive players, and we are looking for coaches who can create a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented environment for all athletes.
The varsity roster includes 12 players, and both coaches will help plan and facilitate two days of tryouts to select the team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead engaging practices that build skills, teamwork, and confidence
Support a positive and respectful team culture for all genders and ability levels
Develop and implement practice plans tailored to a range of skill levels
Prepare players for interscholastic matches and tournaments
Supervise and mentor student-athletes during practices, matches, and travel
Collaborate with the Athletic Department to manage logistics and scheduling
Schedule
Season Dates: November 3 – February 12
Commitment: 4–5 days per week (Monday–Friday)
Practice Window: 3:30–5:30 PM (1.5-hour sessions)
Match Start Times: 4:00 PM / 4:15 PM / 4:30 PM
Arrival:
Practice Days – by 3:15 PM
Game Days – as early as 2:30 PM
Practices take place at two facilities:
The school’s on-campus gym (2 tables)
PingPod (3 tables)
Qualifications
Prior coaching or competitive table tennis experience
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to foster a positive and inclusive team culture
Reliable, organized, and enthusiastic about youth sports
Compensation
Head Coach: $3,500 – $4,000 (based on experience)
Assistant Coach: Competitive stipend
