Responsibilities

The Head Football Coach is responsible for the leadership and overall management of all aspects of the Penn State Football program, including but not limited to:

• Developing and executing a comprehensive, competitive football strategy

• Recruiting and retaining top student-athletes who embody Penn State’s values

• Hiring, managing, and mentoring a diverse and high-performing coaching staff

• Promoting academic achievement, personal growth, and character development

• Ensuring compliance with NCAA, Big Ten, and university regulations

• Engaging alumni, donors, and the broader Penn State community

• Representing the program with professionalism and pride on and off the field

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred

• Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive coaching experience, including head coaching or coordinator-level leadership at the collegiate or professional level

• Proven track record of competitive success and program development

• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

• Demonstrated commitment to academic integrity, player development, and community engagement
