Job Description
Newton Country Day is an independent, preparatory school for girls in grades 5-12.

Position: Girls’ Lacrosse Coach (Head and Assistant Positions, Middle School–Varsity)
Location: Newton Country Day School, Newton, MA
Season: Spring 2025 (March–May)
Schedule:
● Weekdays: Monday–Friday (Practice times vary by level; typically between 3:00–6:00 PM)
● Compensation: Range $2,000–$5,000, depending on level and experience
Position Summary
Newton Country Day School seeks dedicated and enthusiastic Lacrosse Coaches for the spring 2025
season. We are hiring head and assistant coaches for teams ranging from Middle School to Varsity
levels. The ideal candidates will teach lacrosse fundamentals, foster team culture, and inspire
players to compete with skill, confidence, and sportsmanship. This is a unique opportunity to
mentor young athletes and contribute to a supportive, competitive lacrosse program.
Position Requirements:
● Prior experience as a player (collegiate level preferred) or coach is a plus but not required.
● Ability to teach lacrosse fundamentals, strategy, and match play.
● Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
● Ability to motivate and engage athletes across different skill levels, from beginner to
advanced.
● Commitment to fostering teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
● Understanding of and respect for the mission of Sacred Heart education.
Certifications (Preferred):
● Certifications (Preferred): First Aid/CPR, SafeSport Certification, and USA Lacrosse
affiliation (can be completed prior to the start of the season).
Key Duties
1. Athlete Development and Coaching
● Teach and reinforce lacrosse fundamentals, including stick skills, offensive and
defensive strategy, positioning, and game awareness.
● Plan and implement structured, engaging practices tailored to the age and skill level
of the team.
● Evaluate athletes’ progress and provide constructive feedback to foster individual and
team growth.
● Develop a positive and supportive team environment that emphasizes growth, effort,
and respect.
2. Practice and Game Management
● Lead or assist daily practices, ensuring sessions are organized, engaging, and
developmentally appropriate.
● Coach and support athletes during games, promoting a competitive yet sportsmanlike
approach to play.
● Support game-day logistics where needed, including lineups, communication, and
transportation, in conjunction with the Head Coach or Athletics Department.
3. Safety and Equipment Oversight
● Ensure athlete safety through adherence to proper protocols, including injury
prevention practices and active supervision during practices and games.
● Monitor and report any maintenance issues with lacrosse equipment and facilities to
ensure a safe and effective training environment.
● Willingness and ability to drive school vehicles for practices and competitions.
● Successful approval of required CORI background checks and fingerprinting.
4. Program Leadership and Communication
● Act as a mentor to athletes, building their confidence, leadership skills, and passion
for the sport.
● Communicate regularly with the Director of Athletics, athletes, and families to share
schedules, updates, and expectations.
● Promote a culture of sportsmanship, team pride, and dedication in alignment with the
mission of the school and athletics program.
● Collaborate with other coaches to ensure consistency and continuity across all levels
of the program.
