Job Description

Our Mission

Fuel customer growth through meaningful, intelligent, and safe user-to-user (and now, user-to-agent) engagement.

CometChat Overview

CometChat is a full-stack conversational platform built to unify every layer of interaction - bringing together real-time conversations (chat, messaging, voice, and video), AI Agents, moderation, notifications, and analytics in one modular, developer-first solution.

Our company has seen rapid growth, thanks to several market validations - including our participation in the Techstars Boulder Accelerator in 2019, followed by investments from experienced investors such as iSeed Ventures, Range Ventures, Silicon Badia, and Matchstick Ventures. CometChat raised a Series A round led by Signal Peak/Run Ventures. In the last 12 months alone, more than 2 billion messages have been sent through our platform.

We were also recognized on Forbes' 2026 America's Top 500 Startup Employers List - a reflection of the team and culture we've been deliberate about building.

We believe the interface of the future is conversation - not clicks. Every app will soon have an AI layer that's as native as text messaging today. That's why we're building the infrastructure for the world's AI-powered conversations - from human-to-human, to human-to-agent, to multi-party collaboration with AI in the mix.

From AI onboarding assistants that get users productive in minutes, to copilots that perform complex workflows in-app, to intelligent moderators that protect and guide communities in real time - our AI Agent platform makes it all possible.

With CometChat's ready-to-use UI kits, powerful SDKs, and our Full Stack AI Agent Platform, product teams across startups and enterprises can launch safe, scalable, and smart in-app interactions faster than ever.

Why Join Us Now

We're at the tipping point where AI becomes a native part of every conversation. At CometChat, you'll help shape a future where users can talk to their apps as naturally as to a friend - where agents think, reason, act, and collaborate with humans in real time.

You won't just be joining a product team - you'll be building the standard for AI interaction layers: agent-aware UI, intelligent guardrails, rich actions libraries, and multi-party collaboration between people and AI.

If you want to help define how the next billion users will communicate - and push the boundaries of what's possible in real-time, AI-powered engagement - we'd love to work with you.

What we mean by AI-native

AI-native here means you build with agents by default. We expect 100% of the code to be generated via agentic tools (Cursor, Claude Code, and similar), while you own everything that actually matters: problem framing, architecture, tradeoffs, review quality, tests, performance, and security. This is not "vibe coding." The code is generated. The thinking is yours. You should be great at steering agents, validating output, catching subtle issues early, and debugging code you did not manually write.

Why AI-native

Software development is changing permanently, and we are leaning all the way in. You will work in a team that ships fast with agents, where your leverage comes from judgment and systems thinking rather than typing speed. You will get access to whatever AI tools you need (Cursor, Claude Code, or anything else that makes you effective), and the freedom to use them aggressively. If you want to operate at the edge of how modern engineering gets done and level up your output, this role is built for that.

Join us to build where AI meets human connection.

Position Overview & Priorities

We're looking for a Growth Marketing Lead to own our full-funnel growth engine - SEO and AEO strategy, paid campaigns, website conversion, and the reporting that ties it all together. You'll set strategy and direction across these areas while working closely with our content, design, and dev resources to execute. You will also maintain and improve the marketing tooling and automations that keep the team running efficiently.

This is a strategist-and-owner role, not a specialist-in-everything role - you'll have support to execute (writers, designers, developers), and your job is to decide what we do, why, and whether it's working.

Every area you own here - SEO/AEO, paid, CRO, tooling - sits in a field that changes fast: algorithm updates, new ad formats, new tools. Part of the job is tracking that landscape, not just executing inside it.

What you'll do

SEO & AEO Strategy (highest priority)

  • Own SEO strategy: keyword/topic prioritisation, technical SEO audits, site architecture and internal linking decisions

  • Build and evolve the AEO strategy for AI answer engines (Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews)

  • Brief and direct our content writer on SEO and AEO-driven content; you set direction, they execute the writing.

  • Align with PMM on messaging and positioning so SEO/AEO content and landing pages stay consistent with product narrative

  • Track organic performance (rankings, traffic, conversions) using Ahrefs, Search Console, and GA4, and AI-engine visibility using HubSpot; adjust strategy based on what's working

Conversion Rate Optimization

  • Identify conversion opportunities across the website and landing pages using data and qualitative signals (Clarity, GA4, funnel drop-off analysis)

  • Design and run A/B tests - form hypotheses, define success metrics, read results with statistical rigour

  • Implement most test variants and page changes yourself directly in Storyblok; loop in the designer or developer for bigger builds or visual design work.

Ads & Campaign Strategy

  • Own paid strategy and execution across our ad channels (currently Google Ads, with LinkedIn, Meta, and retargeting likely expanding into the mix as new products launch)

  • Manage targeting, budget allocation, bidding, and creative testing directly in-platform.

  • Continuously optimize for CAC/lead quality, not just volume

Reporting

  • Build and maintain reporting that connects website traffic → leads → funnel/pipeline, using GA4 and HubSpot

  • Deliver regular performance readouts across SEO, paid, and CRO to the marketing team and leadership

  • Ensure tracking/attribution stays accurate as campaigns and pages change.

Tooling & Automation (maintain and improve)

  • Administer and maintain existing marketing tools, including HubSpot, GA4, Search Console, Ahrefs, Clarity, and our ad platforms

  • Maintain and improve existing integrations connecting CRMs, ads, website, and reporting (already largely built - this is upkeep and iteration, not building from scratch)

  • Build and manage low-code/no-code automations (currently Claude and Zapier) for your own scope of work, and support other team members with their automations when needed.

Requirements

What you'll need

Must-have

  • 4-6 years in growth/performance marketing, with demonstrated ownership (not just execution) of SEO and paid strategy

  • Hands-on experience with Google Ads is required; familiarity with LinkedIn Ads and/or Meta Ads is a strong plus given our expanding channel mix

  • Comfort working directly in a CMS to publish and edit pages (we use Storyblok) - you should be able to self-serve on landing page and content changes without relying on a developer for every edit.

  • Strong GA4 fluency; experience with HubSpot or a comparable marketing automation platform

  • Real CRO experience: you can walk us through tests/experiments you designed, ran, and interpreted yourself

  • Experience with SEO tools (Ahrefs, Search Console, or similar) and translating data into a content/technical roadmap

  • Comfort with low-code/no-code automation tools (Zapier, Make, or similar); AI-tool fluency (using Claude/ChatGPT to build workflows or accelerate analysis)

Nice-to-have

  • Experience optimising for AI answer engines / AEO, not just traditional SEO

  • Exposure to Clarity or similar behavioural analytics tools

  • Experience with lead scoring or routing workflows.

  • Prior experience supporting non-technical teammates with their own automations

  • Experience partnering with Sales on lead quality feedback - refining scoring criteria or MQL-to-SQL conversion based on what Sales sees downstream.

  • Prior experience in a small marketing team or startup environment, owning broad scope
