Marketing Intern — Crossword
Marketing & Communications
Job Description
Our Mission
Fuel customer growth through meaningful, intelligent, and safe user-to-user (and now, user-to-agent) engagement.
CometChat Overview
CometChat is a full-stack conversational platform built to unify every layer of interaction — bringing together real-time conversations (chat, messaging, voice, and video), AI Agents, moderation, notifications, and analytics in one modular, developer-first solution. Our latest product, Crossword, brings conversational AI to commerce — built for the high-transaction verticals where conversation directly drives retention and revenue.
Our company has seen rapid growth, thanks to several market validations — including our participation in Techstars Boulder Accelerator in 2019, followed by investments from experienced investors including a Series A round. We were also recognized on Forbes' 2026 America's Top 500 Startup Employers list — a reflection of the team and culture we've been deliberate about building.
We believe the interface of the future is conversation — not clicks. That's why we're building the infrastructure for the world's AI-powered conversations — from human-to-human, to human-to-agent, to multi-party collaboration with AI in the mix.
Why Join Us Now
Crossword — our AI commerce associate for ecommerce brands — is going to market right now. You'll join at the zero-to-one stage: the launch is being built, the playbook is being written, and the work you produce will ship, get read by real prospects, and shape a new product's public presence. This is not a make-coffee-and-observe internship. You'll produce real output from week one and work directly with the leadership team.
If you want to learn how a modern, AI-native go-to-market actually gets built — and be part of building it — this is that role.
What we mean by AI-native and Why
AI-native here means you build with AI by default. We expect the production layer of your work — research, drafting, list building, analysis — to be AI-assisted, while you own the judgment: what's accurate, what's on-brand, what's worth publishing.
This is not "AI-curious." You already use Claude, ChatGPT, or similar tools daily and can show your work. You'll get access to whatever AI tools you need, and the freedom to use them aggressively. If you want to operate at the edge of how modern sales and marketing gets done, this role is built for that.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Sales & Marketing Intern to support Crossword's go-to-market, with a primary focus on marketing. Your core job is content: researching, writing, and publishing material that builds Crossword's presence and supports the sales motion. Secondarily, you'll support GTM and sales operations — the systems and lists that keep outbound running.
What you'll do
Primary — Content & Social
Research content topics: competitors, ecommerce and AI-commerce trends, customer pain points, and what's working in the market
Write and edit content — blog posts, social posts, email copy, one-pagers — in clear, polished American English
Create scripts for product demos, video campaigns, and social content
Manage Crossword's social media channels: plan the calendar, draft and publish posts, engage with the community, and report on what's working.
Secondary — GTM Support
Support sales operations: prospect list building, data enrichment, CRM hygiene, and outbound sequence upkeep
Assist with outbound campaigns — research accounts, personalise messaging, track replies
Help prepare sales collateral, competitive research, and internal GTM reporting
Requirements
Must have
Strong writing skills in American English — clear, correct, and natural for a US audience; you'll be asked for writing samples
Heavy, daily user of LLMs and AI tools — you can show specific examples of how you use them to produce real work
Comfortable with sales operations work: lists, data, CRM, and process
Organized, self-directed, and reliable — you can juggle a content calendar and a list-building task in the same week
Available to work full-time from our Mumbai office
Good to have
Hands-on experience with Clay, Lemlist, or LinkedIn Sales Navigator
Experience running social media accounts for a brand, club, or your own project
Familiarity with B2B SaaS, ecommerce, or AI products
Pursuing or recently completed a degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field
Compensation
We publish our comp transparently. This is a paid internship; stipend details will be shared during the interview process. Strong performers will be considered for full-time roles.
Here are the values that act as a guardrail of our execution culture
Go above and beyond for the customer: We are obsessed with ensuring every customer is taken care of, no matter how big or small they are. We truly believe their problems are our problems, and will stop at next to nothing to see them succeed.
Be relentless: Never stop innovating. Be relentless in trying new things, and improving our product. Challenge the status quo, embrace learning curves, and don't be afraid to fail. Focus on the outcome and everything else will fall into place.
Be curious: Practice empathy. Anticipate customer needs, and solve them before they get there. If you don't understand something, ask questions and learn.
Have fun: Laugh. Be positive and kind. Make people feel good. Life is too short not to spend time doing what you love with folks you enjoy being around.
