Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and creative Robotics Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in developing and enhancing our Fenris and Vanir platforms. You will work on state-of-the-art robotics software, implement SLAM algorithms, and contribute to the development of our software stacks. Your innovative thinking, problem-solving abilities, and dedication to excellence will be instrumental in driving our technologies forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Robotic Control: Design, develop, and deploy robotic control systems, including teleoperations, semi-autonomous, and fully autonomous solutions.
- Autonomous Operations: Develop and implement robust mapping, localization, and operational algorithms for structured and unstructured off-road environments.
- Swarm Coordination: Develop algorithms and systems to enable fleets of dozens to thousands of robots to coordinate as a team, with each robot operating independently towards a common goal under the supervision of a single human operator.
- Field Deployments: Support field teams to ensure high-quality performance of robotic assets during deployments, conducting high-pressure troubleshooting in real-time.
- Adaptive Problem Solving: Quickly adapt to changing project requirements and technical challenges with creative solutions.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of software design, implementation, and testing processes to ensure transparency and knowledge sharing.
- Demo Support: Collaborate with business development and engineering teams to support product demonstrations for potential clients and investors.
Basic Qualifications
- GSD!! (If you know, you know): Urgency, grit, tenacity, passion, integrity, high standards.
- Expertise in Python, CAN, C++, SLAM, ROS, and Gazebo.
- Real-world experience in field robotics, particularly off-road scenarios.
- Strong skills in Computer Vision, Perception, and sensor data integration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development.
- Strong documentation skills for technical transparency.
- Insane attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with Machine Learning/Neural Networks for autonomous robots.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with frequently changing needs and requirements.
- Exposure to Cloud Computing (AWS) and containerization technologies (Docker/ContainerD)
- PhD or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field OR equivalent experience

- Must be willing to work from our headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ.
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

- Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
