About Cuvva!

We're on a mission to give everyone affordable access to a car anytime, anywhere 🚙

We offer short-term car insurance through our world-class app, creating truly flexible products that meet people’s real needs. Using lightning-fast technology to unlock better experiences and fairer prices for our customers, Cuvva is building the future of insurance every day.

Cuvva was the first to sell hourly insurance via an app in the UK back in 2016. And we haven’t stopped innovating since. We’ve sold over 14 million policies, and supported over 1.5 million drivers and we’re just getting started. We’re a team of 100 people, passionate about solving our customers’ problems. Join us. 🚀

Our Product teams

At Cuvva, we run lean and highly collaborative, cross-functional product teams. As our new Senior Product Designer, you’ll join our Core team - dedicated to growing and evolving our market-leading short-term car insurance product.

Core operates at the heart of Cuvva’s product ecosystem. The team focuses on deeply understanding customer behaviour, introducing new features that solve real customer problems, and continually optimising every stage of the funnel. It’s fast-paced, commercially significant and central to how we serve our customers.

Each product team owns its area of the Cuvva product ecosystem end-to-end, with a high degree of autonomy and accountability. Teams are made up of a Product Designer, cross-disciplinary Engineers, a dedicated Product Manager and Engineering Manager, alongside close partnership with Data, Pricing and Customer Operations.

At Cuvva, people come from a wide range of backgrounds and bring different but complementary skill sets. Within Product, you’re not required to have a university degree, many of us are self-taught.

Our Design tool kit:

  • Design: Figma.
  • Prototyping: Figma Make, v0, Claude Code
  • Research & insight generation: Perplexity, Claude/ChatGPT, UserTesting, Typeform.
  • Collaboration: Notion, Shortcut, FigJam, Slack, Google Meet.
  • Eng collaboration & Handoff: Figma Dev Mode alongside proactive conversations.
  • Data: Mixpanel/Looker

About the role:

As a Senior Product Designer in Core, you’ll own and shape the end-to-end design process within one of the most established and visible areas of our platform. From discovery and hypothesis setting through to prototyping, validation, delivery, measurement and iteration, your work will directly influence customer experience at scale.

You’ll collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers and Data partners to craft thoughtful, data-informed user experiences that balance customer needs with commercial impact. Core is about refinement as much as innovation - understanding what drives user behaviour, spotting friction and continuously improving performance in meaningful, measurable ways.

You’ll design and prototype high-quality solutions across mobile and web, contribute to our evolving design system and use research, analytics and experimentation to drive iteration on a high-frequency purchase flow where small conversion improvements translate to significant revenue.Your work will ensure our experiences remain accessible, inclusive and built to scale.

At Cuvva, we care deeply about building well-crafted experiences. In this role, you’ll bring strong design judgement, a customer-centric mindset and the confidence to challenge thinking where needed. Core requires someone who can combine creativity with commercial awareness, elevating the experience while improving performance.

Partnership is central to how we work. You’ll operate as a true partner to Product, Engineering and Data, fostering constructive, open conversations and ensuring design is a shared responsibility and a driver of meaningful outcomes.

On a day-to-day basis you’ll:

Own the full design process

  • Lead the design lifecycle for your product area, from discovery through to delivery & iteration.
  • Frame problems clearly, aligning on user needs, constraints & what success looks like.
  • Explore early solution directions through sketches, wireframes & lightweight prototypes.
  • Validate ideas through research & testing, iterating based on evidence + feedback.
  • Run post-release reviews, analysing user behaviour, qualitative feedback & key metrics to inform what to do next.
  • Plan & deliver iterative improvements based on insight, experimentation & changing user needs.

Excel with a broad remit

  • Work pragmatically, knowing when to move quickly on simple problems and when to go deeper on more complex ones.
  • Design, prototype, and document high-quality solutions across mobile and web, maintaining consistency and craft.
  • Partner closely with Engineers throughout delivery to ensure smooth handover and high-quality implementation.
  • Contribute to and evolve the design system as the product grows.
  • Use research, experimentation, and analytics to inform decisions, validate outcomes, and iterate.
  • Champion accessibility and inclusive design across everything you build.

Champion collaboration

  • Actively contribute to the Design community through critiques, feedback sessions, and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate openly with other Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers to raise the quality of work and decision-making.
  • Promote design best practices and continuous learning across teams.

Lean into AI

  • Use AI tools to accelerate discovery, synthesis, prototyping, and content creation where they meaningfully improve quality and speed.
  • Leverage tools such as Claude, Perplexity, and AI-assisted prototyping tools (e.g. Figma Make / v0) to explore, validate, and communicate ideas.
  • Stay curious and experiment thoughtfully with emerging AI design tools to improve your workflow.
  • Stay across evolving design-to-code practices and tools, helping the team close the gap between what's designed and what's shipped.

You’ll do great here if you have:

  • Proven experience owning end-to-end Product Design within a product-led environment
  • Experience designing for mobile platforms (iOS & Android), with a strong understanding of Apple Human Interface Guidelines and Material Design
  • High proficiency in Figma, including design systems, prototyping and developer handoff
  • A solid grasp of UX research methodologies, with the ability to synthesise qualitative and quantitative data into actionable insight
  • A collaborative mindset, working closely with Product Managers, Engineers and Data partners
  • A strong sense of craft, balanced with commercial awareness and outcome-driven thinking
  • A mindset of continuous learning, staying curious about evolving tools, methods and technologies

It’s a bonus if you:

  • Have worked in a startup, scaleup or product-led environment where impact is measured in weeks rather than months
  • Have experience contributing to a scalable design system
  • Have familiarity with behavioural design or experimentation frameworks
  • Have leveraged AI tools to accelerate research, prototyping or synthesis
