The Company

Databox, a fast-growing SaaS company that helps other companies monitor and improve their business performance, is looking for an experienced Data Scientist with solid statistics and coding fundamentals, who will work on data preparation tasks, data analysis & visualizations, build machine learning models, design and evaluate experiments, and apply data mining techniques to large datasets.

The Team

Our Product and Engineering team has 50+ members with extensive experience in UI/UX design, frontend/mobile/backend development, product growth, and analytics. Our backend infrastructure is split into several major components including data calculations (crunching user data), data rendering, application business logic, and other traditional MVC components. The majority of our applications and services are built using Node.js, Typescript, Python, PHP and .NET. PostgreSQL is used for our databases and our main data warehouse. The amount of our data is growing rapidly and turning insights into actions is becoming more and more important.

The Work

• Collect and combine data from multiple sources and perform cleansing steps
• Perform data mining tasks to find insights and patterns
• Prepare efficient visualizations to present findings
• Design, develop and evaluate ML models
• Design experiments to make data-driven decisions
• Collaborate with product and engineering development teams
  

The Skills

• 3+ years of relevant experience in data preparation, analysis and visualizations
• Extended programming experience in Python or R
• Great SQL knowledge
• Great Experience with data manipulation techniques
• Experience in data mining (finding anomalies, correlations, patterns)
• Experience with data preparation for machine learning
• Knowledge of statistical and machine learning techniques (time series analysis, regression, classification, clustering etc.)
• Good understanding of evaluating ML models
• Basic ML deployment skills (Git, CI/CD, containers, code testing...)
• Comfortable with using visualization tools like D3, Plotly or ggplot

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud computing platforms
  
• Understanding of big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka,…)
  
• Experience with machine learning operations (MLOps)

Databox is a remote-friendly company with 100+ team members working across the globe. This position, however, is best suitable for a candidate located near Ptuj, Slovenia, with the possibility of working from home a few times per week.
