Job Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled Material and Process Design Lead to spearhead our efforts in scaling up the production of SCMs from mineral waste streams. This pivotal role involves transitioning our technology from laboratory-scale to pilot and ultimately commercial-scale production. As a key leader within our organization, you will draw upon your expertise in process design, knowledge of the construction industry, and your ability to optimize processes for large-scale operations. You will report directly to EnviCore's CTO.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with process development and engineering design for processing projects, including formulating process flow diagrams and piping & instrumentation diagrams.
  • Assess materials of construction, including corrosive and hazardous materials, and for high-temperature (up to 900°C) systems.
  • Perform technical communications such as verbal presentations, PowerPoint slideshows, technical write-ups, and reports.
  • Develop and execute strategies for scaling up SCM production, ensuring cost-effective and efficient operations.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to translate laboratory-scale processes into pilot and commercial-scale operations, optimizing production efficiency and product quality.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, quality, and cost, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and technological advancements related to SCMs, and sustainable construction practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience. P. Eng is a must.
  • Deep understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals: heat transfer, mass transfer, fluid mechanics, chemical kinetics, thermodynamic analysis, mass and energy balance, unit operation design.
  • Experience with design and engineering of novel processes (pilot plant, demonstration plant, and commercial plant).
  • Experience with high-temperature reactions (up to 900°C).
  • Experience with equipment such as rotary kiln, fluidized bed, ball mills, VRMs, or similar.
  • Familiarity with bridging process simulation with actual equipment, process, and plant design.
  • Relevant experience with experimental design, process engineering, equipment design, process chemistry, material handling, and conveying.
