FLITE is commercializing a technology that engineers the surface of most materials to endow them with new functions. The material of choice for a commercial or industrial product can be enhanced permanently to resist ice, rust, bacteria or other fouling. After treatment, the surface of the material has new microstructures that create the superhydrophobic or related effect. For many industries, this is an ideal replacement for temporary and toxic coatings; in aerospace, life sciences, food and beverage, or oil and gas, this represents a completely new method of protecting their products.
