Job Title:
Full-Stack Developer
Job Summary:
The Developer supports the technical team in maintaining and improving our stillbirth prevention Android and iOS mobile apps which are currently supporting families across 140+ countries and 6 continents! The ideal candidate is someone who has experience in typescript and mobile development, enjoys working across different technologies, and is seeking to grow as a full-stack developer.
The Tech Stack:
Our tech stack is actively growing and evolving. Currently, we use the following technologies. A strong application should demonstrate knowledge and interest in the following:
- Javascript/Typescript
- React Native
- Node.Js
- Firebase
- Authentication
- Cloud Firestore
- Cloud Functions
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Design and develop innovative software
- Construct the front and back-end of our mobile app
- Work with the design lead to implement product design
- Write and maintain a clean codebase using modern best practices:
- Document all work
- Write and maintain tests and diagnostic tools
- Maintain a CI pipeline
- Test for and address bugs
- Monitoring the performance of internal systems
- Ensure the highest standards of data privacy and security
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment
Learning Outcomes
- Experience working on a javascript codebase for a mobile app
- Experience implementing UI/UX practices to create digital-health resources
- Knowledge of health standards and key health metrics for at-risk pregnancies
- Experience working with a team to host and launch a new product
- Experience working in a growing startup environment with a social impact focus
Qualifications:
- Experience with Javascript technologies (JavaScript, Typescript, React, React Native, Node.js)
- A solid understanding of software engineering practices and principles
- Flexibility and adaptability to learn new technologies and frameworks quickly
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- High level of integrity and strong desire to make a positive impact
- A desire to learn, paired with a collaborative spirit
- This position is funded by the Digital Skills for Youth Grant, thus the eligibility requirements of this grant will apply (age 30 or under, Canadian citizen/PR/refugee, post-secondary graduate)
Employment Details
Proposed Start Date: June 15, 2024
Proposed End Date: October 29, 2024 (with the possibility of extension)
Details: 30 hours/week, $30/hour
Location: Most work will be remote, but there will be in-person team meetings at our space in the iconic Harbour Centre in downtown Vancouver with a beautiful view of the mountains and ocean!
