Founded by Jing Gao, a Sichuan-born entrepreneur who uses her experience as a trained chef to share the flavors of her hometown with the world. Fly By Jing is on a mission to bring uncensored Chinese flavors to the table and to create space for more diverse voices to be heard. We’re a small but mighty fully remote, majority woman, BIPOC team who are changing the “ethnic” aisle for good.
Why We Need You: You will lead organic social media to drive brand awareness, community engagement, and ultimately business growth. This role is responsible for all things organic social, from strategy to calendar to creation of best-in-class content. You will tell the story of these flavors by creating engaging, shareable content that is on-brand and serves to entertain and educate followers about our products and their many uses. You will own the channels that increase brand awareness by acting as a billboard to communicate our essence, and drive buzz and excitement around newness. This person will be deeply familiar with current social media culture and be extremely resourceful at creating content with a scrappy budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all content posted on Instagram & TikTok; a combination of creating yourself (up to 75%) and briefing freelance content creators to develop visually appealing and on-brand assets for social media. Candidate will be “scrappy” and resourceful with budget.
- Provide creative direction for all social media content, including graphics, videos, and copywriting, to maintain brand consistency. STRONG VISUAL POV IS REQUIRED
- Lead development of a comprehensive Instagram and TikTok organic social media strategy to drive increased impressions, engagement, and follower growth
- Concept, film, and edit thumb-stopping and engaging content that reflects Fly By Jing’s core content pillars
- Craft our content calendar, ensuring timely and consistent delivery of high-quality content, aligned with brand and business objectives.
- Build community by responding to comments, DMs, and making the brand feel human
- Monitor & identify social media trends, tools, and best practices, and incorporate them into our strategy to maximize effectiveness.
- Analyze social media performance metrics and provide regular reports and insights to inform strategy optimization and decision-making.
KPIs
- Reach (how many unique people saw each content piece)
- Reach of followers vs non-followers (goal= 70% non-followers, current is 60%)
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years owning social media for a food brand with Instagram or TikTok following of over 50K
- Passionate about all food, but especially Sichuan food
- Very comfortable working directly with Founder and team
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing social media strategies that drive engagement and business growth.
- Comfortable with taking feedback on strategy, creative, and assets, and pivoting as needed
- Have to be comfortable both in front of and behind the camera, engaging with our community IRL, and not taking yourself too seriously
- Proficiency in using social media management tools, analytics platforms, and video editing software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Some travel required (up to 20% of total time)
Location: US-based. Remote. Las Vegas or Los Angeles Preferred
