Gelatex Technologies is a materials science startup that was founded in 2016 in Estonia (now having holding in UK) and is on a mission to scale up sustainability and health-related industries. Gelatex has invented the fastest technology for producing bio-based nanofibers on a large scale. It is a platform technology that enables faster and over 90% cheaper nanofiber production for applications like 3D scaffolds for tissue engineering, bio-based filters, eco-friendly leather-like textile, energy storage, wound care, and many more. Previously, Gelatex developed an eco-friendly leather-like textile made from nanofibers of gelatin - a protein derived from the waste of leather or meat industries. COVID-19 made us to understand the wider potential of already our existing nanofiber production technology and we decided to pivot.
