AI Product Manager
Granter.ai
Granter is building an AI agent that handles grants end-to-end. The AI Grant Consultant helps companies discover funding opportunities, draft stronger proposals faster, and manage funded projects after approval.
Our mission is to enable businesses of all sizes to leverage incentives to grow and innovate. We are deeply involved in the Portuguese startup ecosystem and were the winners of the Web Summit Pitch Competition 2025.
We are now looking for an AI Product Manager who will take ownership of product and work closely with engineering, operations, and leadership to turn complex ideas, user needs, and technical capabilities into clear product decisions.
Unlike a traditional PM role, an AI PM works with AI systems that behave probabilistically and improve through iteration.
This means understanding how models are evaluated and working closer with engineers on data and experiments. Prior AI product experience is not required, but you must be able to ramp up quickly. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who genuinely loves a challenge and operates at an A-player level.
What This Role Involves
You sit at the center of product decisions. Your job is to turn ideas, user needs, and technical possibilities into clear product decisions and real features.
Sometimes this means writing requirements. Sometimes designing flows. Sometimes validating hypotheses with real users. If something needs to happen to move the product forward, you make it happen.
Work closely with engineers to build features at the edge of what current AI systems can realistically do. For that you must have some understanding of how AI systems work at a technical level, not only from a UX perspective.
Constantly validate ideas. Run experiments, review product, evaluate AI and talk with users to make sure we are building the right things. Maintain a strong validation mindset. Test assumptions early and iterate quickly.
Define product requirements, features, and user flows based on data, user insights, and technical constraints.
Coordinate product priorities and roadmap decisions with stakeholders.
Keep the team aligned and moving quickly. We are a startup. Everyone contributes ideas and everyone is a stakeholder, but you sit at the center of product decisions.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a builder. We care more about evidence than years, but below is a minimum baseline we believe you need to be effective:
Experience
-
3+ years of experience in Product Management or a closely related role.
Additional Plus
Experience in a fast-paced startup environment is a strong plus
-
Experience working on AI products or agents (as a PM or in a similar role) would get us particularly excited, but not required
Core Skills
Ability to validate product ideas through user interviews, prototype testing, and tight feedback loops
Ability to design user flows, wireframes, mockups, and lightweight prototypes in Figma, Lovable, or similar tools
Ability to write clear product requirements and translate ideas into actionable specifications
Technical literacy and the ability to reason about implementation decisions with engineers
Ability to analyze product behavior and experiments using data, logs, or evaluation results
-
Already familiar with using AI tools as part of your work
Communication
Extremely strong communication skills
Ability to explain complex ideas clearly across engineering, business, and leadership
-
Fluent in English and Portuguese
Mindset
Low attachment to ideas. Strong bias for truth over ego.
Strong structured thinking and problem solving
Combination of creative and analytical thinking
-
Curiosity about how AI systems work
How We Like to Work
We aim to build a team of high-agency builders - people who take initiative, move problems forward, and don’t wait for permission to improve things.
You’ll likely do well here if you:
Take ownership
Focus on outcomes, not just outputs
Move ideas forward quickly through testing and iteration
Communicate clearly and give direct, no-B.S. feedback
Collaborate effectively across disciplines
Stay comfortable operating in ambiguity
-
Are curious about AI and how technology reshapes work
Granter is still early in its journey, and we are serious about creating an environment where things get built. People here tend to befriend each other and often stay engaged with the team beyond the strict boundaries of work. We regularly spend time together through team activities and startup ecosystem events.
If that excites you, we’d love to hear from you. If it scares you, this may not be the right place, and that’s okay.
Location Requirement
This role requires physical presence in Lisbon.
Please do not apply if you are not currently based in Lisbon.
