We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Design to join our dynamic team. As the Director of Design at Healthie, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the user experience and visual design of a best-in-class product for the health & wellness industry. Your expertise in UX design, coupled with management experience, and a systematic approach to problem-solving, will contribute to creating intuitive and visually appealing products. Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Relationship Management:
    • Build and manage relationships with business and tech stakeholders to advocate for user experience, using quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Influential Product Direction:
    • Impact product direction by fostering relationships with Product Management and Engineering, guiding decisions with customer-centered research insights.
  • Focus on Quality
    • Build out a culture of visual quality and craftsmanship which interplays with usability, to support a standard of best-in-class software.
  • Strategic Communication Skills:
    • Demonstrate excellent strategic communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, effectively communicating research insights at all organizational levels.
  • Advocacy for Human-Centered Design:
    • Strategically advocate for and clearly communicate the importance of human-centered design in product development.
  • Visibility and Issue Resolution:
    • Provide visibility into Design Team’s delivery targets, commitments, and progress, proactively resolving issues to ensure Design Team success.
  • Continuous Improvement Focus:
    • Use team feedback and metrics to identify improvement opportunities, collaborating with teams to drive continuous enhancement.
  • Team Collaboration and Growth:
    • Coach the team to enhance collaboration and self-organization, emphasizing continuous learning and growth.
  • Leadership and Mentorship:
    • Lead and mentor Product Designers, scaling teams with high-quality results, low attrition, and fostering team members' growth.

Requirements:

  • You’ve managed a design team of at least 10 people in a B2B SaaS organization which had a significant feature-set.
  • You’re an empowering leader and organizer who champions collaboration and communication skills.
  • You have the ability to analyze and de-escalate challenges by balancing empathy with strategic resolve.
  • You’ve led or assisted efforts in building and managing complete design systems.
  • You have extensive knowledge with tools and techniques employed in user experience research, coupled with an understanding of the merits and limitations inherent in each.
  • You are proficient in design & operational tools such as Figma, Figjam, Typeform, Notion

Product Familiarity

  • Platform Knowledge: Gain a deep understanding of the Healthie platform, its features, and the historical context of its design.
  • Design Systems and Roadmaps: Examine current design systems, design backlog, and product roadmaps.

Team Assessment

  • Building Team Relationships: Forge strong connections with the Design team to understand individual skills, roles, and current projects.

Initial Meetings + Networking

  • Cross-Functional Connectivity: Establish relationships with key stakeholders in product, engineering, and growth departments.

60-Day Milestones: Strategy Development and Integration

Design Vision and Operations

  • Team Leadership: Take charge of weekly one-on-ones and review team check-ins.
  • Communication Rhythms: Establish a consistent cadence for Design team communications, both asynchronous and in-person.
  • Progress Reporting: Provide weekly updates on OKRs and KPIs.

Feedback Loops

  • Customer Engagement: Participate in customer calls alongside the Design team to understand customer needs and pain points.

Collaboration

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Set regular touchpoints with key cross-functional stakeholders.

90-Day Milestones: Implementation and Strategic Planning

Start Implementing Changes

  • Strategic Initiatives: Formulate strategies to address identified gaps in the platform, aligning with the company's bulletproof initiative.

Team Development

  • Supportive Environment: Ensure team members feel supported in their roles and have clearly communicated their career growth pathways.

Strategic Planning

  • Milestone Management: Guarantee that all milestones and deadlines are met with actionable and complete design deliverables.
  • Priority Setting: Manage inbound design support requests from various departments effectively.
  • Planning and KR Setting: Collaborate with the team to establish priorities and Key Results (KRs) for the upcoming quarter.

Evangelize Design

  • Leadership Advocacy: Promote the value of Design to the company's leadership.
  • Long-Term Strategy Presentation: Share a comprehensive long-term design strategy with stakeholders.
  • Continued Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain regular touchpoints with key cross-functional partners.

Continuous Goals:

  • Maintain a strategic focus aligned with the company's broader goals.
  • Adapt and refine strategies based on ongoing feedback and changing company needs.

Logistics

Location: NYC or LA, United States (remote/hybrid)

This is a full-time position

U.S. work authorization is required along with physical location residing within the United States. Healthie does not provide sponsorship.

The base salary for this role is $180,000- $200,000 per year + annual company bonus and benefits
