Senior Robotics Engineer (Autonomy)
Berlin, Germany
We don't expect you to check all the items below, but this is how we will assess your profile:
- Develop autonomous navigation software for wheeled mobile robots.
- Integrate LiDAR, RGB/depth cameras, IMUs, wheel odometry, and GPS (where applicable).
- Implement SLAM, localization, obstacle detection, and path planning.
- Design mission planning software for predefined routes and task execution.
- Improve robustness in challenging greenhouse conditions such as changing lighting, dense foliage, reflective surfaces, and narrow aisles.
- Deploy, test, and tune autonomy algorithms on physical robots.
- Build tools for map generation, route creation, and mission monitoring.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to improve robot performance.
- Analyze field data and continuously improve navigation reliability.
Nice to have
- Experience with autonomous ground vehicles (AGVs or AMRs).
- Knowledge of machine learning and computer vision.
- Experience integrating with NVIDIA Jetson or similar edge AI platforms.
- Familiarity with simulation tools such as Gazebo or Isaac Sim.
Not nice things
- If you are scared of trying or failing at things because you're doing it for the first time.
- You don't know basic hardware stuff, like the difference between a BLDC vs a stepper motor, CAN vs UART, or how to use basic tools like a multimeter.
This is probably one of the most exciting and fulfilling roles in Robotics in Europe right now. We don't shy away from questioning the status quo and (re)building things from the ground up.
- Full ownership.
- A team of genuine experts across hardware, ML, AI, and agronomy to build with.
- Berlin only. We can offer relocation support.
- Our own manufacturing lab. We are simultaneously building our own manufacturing studio that you can make full use of. We have 24/7 access to a range of lasers, 3D printers, metalworking tools, an electronics lab, and more.
- Benefits: equity, perks, visiting farms, morning matchas, strawberries, and more.
